Ok - edit ahoy!

the following post (in italics) was made by myself before I had fully read all the posts here - I was sure I had, but somehow missed the ones that explained what goes on in the 'girls only forum'... hmmm, well I can certainly understand you ladies would want threads to discuss subjects specific to female aspects of the industry/hobby/arty type stuffs. I can also understand the feeling it would need to be 'private' with certain topics. Anyways, very sorry if I offended any of you!

A few thoughts:

My main concern is that C.A. as a whole should never be a 'male dominated' or even viewed as 'male dominated' forum - please ladies, if a young teenager can post their very beginning steps into the art world and be greeted with nothing but encouragement then any view that your art is not good enough is misplaced - whatever level you are at (and most of you are awesome!) please know you will be accepted

Automatic Gender icons showing who is male or female is a really cool idea AsaB!

Wow - this whole thing amazes me

I can't believe you ladies feel the need for a female-specific members only forum here on C.A. with one of the reasons being stated as how the rest of the site is apparently so boys dominated, ladies feel nervous of participating!? What!? For a site like this I find it amazing and even shocking that ladies feel they 'need' somewhere where us guys are not allowed to even see! The site is about sharing our art experience isn't it?

Sorry for the rant - it's not that I want to stop you ladies doing what you want to do or anything but giving the reason that you basically don't feel accepted by the rest of us is shocking!

I've just been on another thread that AsaB started asking for a possible addition of gender icons so we all know if a member is male or female. I think it's a cool idea and would add to the richness of C.A. - maybe if us guys knew when we where talking to ladies we could address you as such and you'd feel more accepted!

I respect artists male or female - we all have our individual talents artistically! Please ladies don't be afraid to share your art with us
