    Space Pirate Ninja and Cyborg!

Oh yeah, everything a man needs, in one picture!
But how should I color it? I've put down the flats, but I dunno... it's kinda messy, isn't it? Any suggestions on how to make the colors flow better and not make a giant rainbow out of everything?
Is the space background too obstructive? I kinda like the yellow though.
Any crits or comments are appreciated. Uh, and I hope this is the right forum for this.
    Cheers

I don't think I really see anything wrong w/ the colours. They add character... these are rather flamboyant space pirates. I think the problem is that you just haven't shaded it in yet. Besides, if you use your background as the light source, the whole scene will be basked in a golden-ish ambient light anyway, and if you add the resulting shadows in, I think it'll look pretty dramatic.

There's something really weird about the placement of the girl's eyes though. They look too close to each other. Maybe move her left eye just a touch more to the left?

    Hey Ragathol,

This is pretty busy in terms of colors -- they're festive, though

I went ahead and did a quick paintover (hope you don't mind ) to see what would happen if you toned it down a little... What do you think?

Stylus: I don't think I'll use the nebulosa/whatever as the light source, as it is from the back, and will make the shadows cover most of the characters and make things difficult
But the light should be affected by the color, good point.
I'm still in the process of really working on my faces... It's always a problem with huge eyes like these. I think it's rather her right eye that could be moved/compressed a little... We'll see what I can do.

    AmontilladoAg: Festive indeed
I don't really know about the blacks on the girl's gear, I kinda like that red. But your work on the ship looks better. It needs to be toned down so the characters don't get lost in it. Thanks for your suggestion!

If I may offer one more suggestion...

You might think about losing that sail/solar panel thing... it's kind of distracting.. Just a thought

This is a spiffy pic, btw eager to see how it progresses

Hmm, maybe.. I can check how it looks without it.

Also, the pirate ship in background obviously isn't filled in...

I can't add any crits that haven't already been said, but I would like to say that this is probably the best thread title I have ever seen.

I concur. This is the best thread title I've ever seen.

I noticed there's a weird thing going on with the feet. This could be just a style choice of course. But her left breast is 2/3 the size of her right. I don't suppose this was a style choice.

It would benefit the composition if you add more space at the bottom and the right of the canvas I think.

The red didn't really bother me though. But then, I've spent some time in Japan. Lots of very bright colors everywhere is a common thing there. The only problem I had with it was that it clashed with the pink hair of your space pirate ninja. Speaking of which, yeah, where is her ninja part? Maybe her hair could be the color you initially gave the gun.

All things said, I think you have the start of a great picture here!

-Girl's foot looks broken (one on the underling)
The guy being stepped on is placed too far back. He's actually BEHIND her rear foot (the one on the deck) so there's no way her other foot would be on top of him as it projects forward.
    - Colours are all over the place. That pink is screaming, but I have no real advice, other than to do colour studies.
    - You would do you well to actually create your own background. Stock footage is too noticable.
    - The shapr texture and gradient on the blue sail seems to be clashing with the rest of the style you have going. It just seems out of place.

Whoa, it's been ages! And very little progress...
But I think I have better colors now, and I've fixed some of the troubles with the lines. I moved her foot a bit back, but I can't really do more than this without redrawing the whole thing. It's better, at least. Left eye moved a little, left breast fixed(?).

Yeah, I should probably draw my own background. But I have mixed feelings about what kind it should be... The yellow flashy one emphasizes the girl more, but the darker calmer one might drag people into the picture more. What do you think?

Oh, and I just threw "ninja" in there for coolness points. Sorry
    Thanks for all your help.

i think the dark background to me seems to make the characters pop out a little more also i think it looks a lot better now that you lost the pink hair.
    very cool drawing.

not to bee really nit picky but in case you would miss them... there is still a little pink in the hair near the gun barrel and also the top little holes in the collar of her coat the one on her right seems to still have the original gun color showing through it.

Cool concept in general, I do love the colour scheme so far.

You might consider to change some things though. The left hand from the sailor pushed on the ground does not resemble the right hand in size. Seems the position is oddly different and his fingers are shorter. As for the captain, ears are not really believable in that angle, his right sideburns seem to be covering more of the face then the left.
