You re off on a good start! More of those anatomy studies, watch proportions, AND strokes, it ooks like you re doing tiny strokes back and forth, it s a no no, choose a direction and longer, more confident lines, will help!
cheers and keep drawing!

Okay will do. My pencils do need some improvement so I'll try that.
Bit of a lousy update but I want to post as much as I can. This was really meant to be a test to try and improve my shading, didn't turn out particularly bad, but its nothing special. I sometimes just get stuck on what to draw. I might do this weeks chow whenever its updated.
Hey,
keep up the motivation!! Draw as much as you can to improve, thats what i did when i started my sb at 14, like you. Your shading has improved since i last looked, try to slow down and dont rush it. Last update was good, but i want to see your controled lines. Keep it up with the studies also, they will help! Hows Fleet btw?
Qxzi
Fleets good, bit boring reall, not much going on. Yeah I did some other thing that I'll post later today and I want to do some more drawing later as well so there should be a couple of updates coming soon.
This is really bad, I keep double posting myself. Its cos I keep doing these stupid updates without art.
For now though, here is a post, with some art.
The first is a strange thing I drew in my art class todal entitled "Santa Claws" It a bit rushed and not that good but I am rather fond of it.
The second is a thing I drew about half an hour ago. I don't really like the concept but I lik the shading.
Miles.
Nice stuff mate ; ) Thanks for putting me in your signature, I 'm returning the favor of courseNice stuff, i think theres to much fun and to less practice though ( which can get you far , no doubt! ), and I hope to see some more practice in here

Okay, personally I feel this drawing is muh better than a lot of the other suff here. I used a reference to quickly get the anatomical side of this right then just added a cool looking costume.
Miles.
Looks great. It's pretty amazing to see 14 year olds working like this; when I was 14 I was making Dragon Ball Z fanart. Bad fanart.
It's really neat watching your progres, one thing I see is that your pencil shading seems rushed... ater getting those scribbles in, hunker down and really push the contrast.![]()
Haha cheers. Yeah the problem I have is that when I start a piece I want to finish it before I do anything else but I also seem to want to do it in a hurry which of course leads to me rushing the shading. Still its improving. Yes, contrast is the main problem I have. In that last pice the reason the shading isn't too good is that I may have used the reference for getting the pose but working out the shading was all from the head.
Miles.
Hi, thanks for visting my SB. Your recent sketches are really cool, my favourite is the second sketch in post #36, try pushing the contrast a little further. I know it's hard, cause i suffer from the same problem, but when u nail those black areas it looks much more alive.

I agree...nice shading on Miles. A lot of good work in here, keep doing those anatomy studies and pushing your medium more and more. And keep having fun!!

WOW your stuff is really good. Your anatomy looks really nice... I mean it could always be improved (I think almost every artist could improve on this apsect) but overall your getting the idea. Also your ideas are really creative and cool! I will definitely be checking your updates!

That was way over expectationssorry to say that, but its a great improvement , and leap in the right direction!
Hope to see more improvement ; )
Here's one more piece. Today I drew this at my friends house and it was a try at drawing a figure from a different perspective.
Thank you to all the people who have commented it means a lot for motivational purposes. I try to look at the sketcbooks of those who have commented so you probably got replies, just say if you want me to visit yours.
I'm gonna do some drawing in pen later tonight after being inspired by minjas sketchbook which is phenominal.
Miles.
Looks good!
The overall perspective is convincing, however there are a few areas of concern, the spikes on his shoulder guard, the left leg-mainly the knee... idk thats just my opinion...
but it looks very clear and the shading is suburb! I would like to see some more detail ie, the hands, feet and designs on the armor nice job though on such a challenging perspective!-taylor
Thank you very much. The shading took ages so I'm glad it look good.
Here is a first attempt at drawing with a pen.
Its not really that good so I think I'll stick to pencils at the moment.
Miles.
Oh and thanks dile for putting me in your signature and yeah, I suprised myself with that drawing as well its definately better than the other stuff here.
The box one is pretty funny heheh! Also I like the pen one... But I would keep practicing! what kind of pen are you using? When Im rendering things (opposed to inking them) with pen I like to use reg old bic pens. They actually can blend andare perfect for hair...
If you want to know what I mean I used bic pen on this picure-

Thank you for the kind comments
ShiroNami: Yeah I used basically a writing pen that was definately designed for drawing. I can see what you mean by the blending on the hair in your pic, it looks great.
Myrridin: Thank you very much and no problem about visiting your sketchbook I'm trying to look at as many peoples as I can now so expect more comments.
I should have some sort of update later today...If I draw anything.
Great progress so far! the 'stuck in a box' one looks great in particular. It's great to see more people around my age on here.
First of all, more anatomy studies! A good way to go about them is whenever you're drawing a figure and really don't know how something works (like that arm in the last one), just look it up and draw a few.
Also, for pencils, don't be afraid to really press down when you're shading. It's hard to get used to, but digging in is the only way you're going to get higher contrast than what you're getting (well, not the only way, but by far the easiest.)
Hope this helped, keep it coming!

Nice work with the pen! When I shade with a pen I cant personally use a bic, but I have a .005 Micron which is the pen I used for all the drawings in my update, I love it and highly recommend it! good for details!

okay I might consider buying one somtime.
Haha and yeah about the age thing, its more so if I found them in ten years or so i thought it would be cool to know how i old i was when i drew them.
Oh its really alright haha, yeah ill write it on the other side from now on.
Hye,
nice couple of updates here, remember to think in 3D, follow the form or shape. A ball would be round not flat for example. You should also do some work on your anatomy, get a book by bridgman or hogarth, and study that. And btw, your sig, im a talented teenager too, im only 16.......

Nice sketchbook, great pen work.
Okay, now its time for an update I was really pleased with.
The first one is the regular kind of generic rubbishy soldier thing I post everyday. Its crap really, don't know why I updated it.
he second is a page of faces (all referenced) that I am very pleased with. Especially on the shading side of things.

NIce work! I agree with what you said the 2nd page is a great update!
It all looks good excpet for really just two things
-the shading all seems rushed and a little messy in general more time and patience would help
-Also the black man's left eye is like looking up while his other isn't and it just looks different, also his collar wouldnt really meet in the back.
Overall, wow that is a great update! I'm a tough critic but those really are great nice job, it is very inspiring! really well done!
