    jellyfish sketch

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've never drawn a jellyfish before so this has been pretty challenging. And after looking at it for so long it looks fine to me but I know it needs plenty of work. I've looked at a ton of reference pics and the thing is that they are pretty much see through and there isn't any form to them. This is going to be for a tattoo so it'll be solid colors with not a lot of see through aspects, if that makes any sense. Open to any and all critiques and feedback. Thanks.

cnotes, welcome aboard! I really like your idea. Depending on the size of the tatoo, you'll have to be careful with adding too much detail to the hanging membrane. As for the fill-in, it really depends on the style of jellyfish you're going for. I would suggest adding strong coloring/shading to the perimeter of the head and adding blur for the transparent areas. Somewhat seen in this pic:

Pretty cool You might consider adding something to the top of the jellyfish, like the circles on the jellyfish in mofongo's pic, but it looks good as is, too -- either way..

    Thanks for the replies.

It'll be from my shoulder cap to about 2-3 inches above my wrist, the main piece of my sleeve.

Any other critiques are more than welcome.

Just wanted to bump this up to see if I can get some more feedback.

    Thanks.
