man, i wish i would have known about 3d when i was 16, i would be way better off now. you definetly have a jump on the rest of us, now you just need to slow down a bit and start studying. the only thing that you are really missing is proportion and anatomy. it shows that you study a lot of other peoples work in order to see what parts of the body to pop in a picture, but understanding the underlying structures is what makes it look right.

for your drawing i would say try doing a couple of studies from photos, where you draw a grid on the picture and then replicate it 2-3 times larger on paper, grid for grid. this will show you what parts you are exadurating in your mind, and where they actually go. the other thing is just find some loomis and hogarth books, they are great reference for understanding forms (dont read hogarth though, just draw out of it).

keep rockin man, you will be a force to be reckoned with by the time you are 20.

You are so right in what you say. I actually figured out myself that I have to to more studies, and I've been drawing like mad for about a week or so. The reason I haven't uploaded the studies is that my scanner is broken, and my camera is broken.

I'll certainly do more studies in the future. After I did some anatomy studies, I immediately felt that my drawings were taken to the next level, at least the drawings from my mind. Now I know where the major muscle groups are located, and it really aids me when drawing.

If I study anatomy a lot more, I'm confident that I'll improve.

I'll try to do both drawing and 3d in the future, and combine them. This, I think, can prove to become very powerful.

By the way, the link you gave is really awesome! What a skilled artist!

Your stuff is really good, and I love that blue/green animal concept.
The only crituiqe I have on it is that you shoud think about where the light source is before you make the background. It looks abit wrong that the underside of his feet are highlighted for example.
Keep studying anatomy, and keep your cool style!

I've studied a lot of anatomy studies lately. However, I cant upload them just yet. I've drawn using some old davinci's as reference. I think its great practice and I've learned a lot by drawing from his studies.

Hey! Thanks for dropping by my SB! I'll keep the crits 'n stuff in english, in case someone else might benefit from 'em... you're drawing a lot, and that's good! Keep that up! As for anatomy, you just have to practice it a LOT to get it down... I have such a long way to go myself... hehe... get a hold of a couple of books on anatomy... like Bridgman and Loomis... they're hella good to learn from! Try some gesturestudies as well.. real quick ones where you focus on nothing but the proportions to get the down... same goes for faces.. they have a tendency to be a bit skewed... flip 'em in PS to see

I havent been able to draw as much as I'd like to. My job and school takes way to much time.

Anyhow. Here are some new doodles, and pieces. These are digital as I dont bother scanning all the traditional doodles. I've started using Sketchbook pro for sketching. What an incredible app! I love the minimalistic UI and soft strokes. Beautiful layer system and navigation as well. I cant recommend it enough!

Doodles! yeah!

I've been requested by some people in my class lately to draw cars, for some reason. As the nice person I am, I tried. Mechanical objects is currently my weakness, and I hope that focusing on my weaknesses will improve my general skills.

















I saw the wonderful movie "V for Vendetta" today. As I watched it, I paused it several times, and drew what I saw on the screen. I found this to be great practice, as I continuously had reference in front of me. I'll definitely do this again.

I'm currently over my head with both school and work here, but I try to doodle as much as I'm allowed to do. I even doodle in class, even though I'm definitely not in an art related school.

I'm trying to learn Corel Painter. Its not easy, but I think it going to be worth it. I'm having some problems controlling the brushes, but I'm sure I'll figure it out someday.

You are getting some crazy textures through some of your digital work.

I think it would really help you to fully commit yourself to some figure drawing, in charcoal or pencil, and really try to understand things in form and strong shadow. From there you'll be able to develop a better technique that will translate into your digital paintings. I can tell you're familiar with the tools, so it'll be so much better when you understand the different traditional techniques.

Wow. Great improvement from page 1 to 3. It seems your digital and 3-D work is a few steps ahead of your 2-D. The digital sketches are a lot less scratchy.

I just took a tour of your sketchbook and things are looking good. Your determination and progress are self evident. Keep it up. All I have to really say is that you never stop drawing from life. All of you skills are intertwined and all related to each other. You only get better by practicing everything. Keep pluggin away.

A 3d WIP I'm working on. As Modo doesnt currently have any way to pose or rig a character, I'm trying to learn Softimage XSI. As you all know, learning a new app is a pain in the ass, especially a 3d app.

yeah, I know. The anatomy is lousy, but I'll fix it shortly.



And a photo manipulation. I have used a number of different stocks from sxu.hu. I can say that I'm fairy happy with how it turned out, as this is the first time I have actually tried something like this.

As I come to think of it, the only thing I feel really comfortably doing in Photoshop is painting.

Hey, thanks for checking out my sketchbook. Don't really have crits on specific pieces, but you should definitely keep going with with all those portraits. I'm seeing alot of improvement in this book, especially in that area.

That photo manipulation is pretty sweet too, is it possible that you could give us the sources of the pictures? So we could see all of what you did.
