Woah there are some amazing studios here :|

steve kim: I can't tell whether my vague nausea is caused by vertigo or extreme jealousy, sheesh

My workspace is confined to my bedroom here at home, soon to be downgraded to a smaller room in my new uni apartment

I need to hoover but that ain't gonna happen :

LOLZ instead of living in my parent's basement, I'm living in their living room until about sometime next year.

Hither follows my little creative corner. I'm hesitant to use the word 'studio' as it invokes the picture of a crotchety old man standing/sitting hunched over an easel smearing oil on a canvas . While that's certainly somewhere i'd like to end up someday, my talent as of today...well...i digress - creative corner!

Not very tidy, but it's home :p.

The books i currently read/delve into and volumes that don't have space/room on my main bookshelves in the other room. I get alot of my inspiration for drawing and artistry from mental images derived from books, especially fantasy. Good to have those books in grab-reach from my bed ^^.

I'm really more of a fiction writer/journalist then a fiction painter/drawing artist right now, but i want to excel in both fields . In a few months, i'm going to upgrade my paltry little bamboo to a nice, big intuos4 size L - if i still have the same drive to draw, that is . Right now, writing has become overshadowed by my 8-12 hours/day drawing - i hope it stays that way for a few months while i learn the basic of the basics.

Thanks for watching. Great studios everyone, whether they're medieval castle chambers filled with gleaming armors, two-story artistic flats or the more common room-at-home ^^.

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780399507915/ <-- that's the anatomy book i'd recommend to anyone who begins to draw or paint. It's the book blocked out on my desk by the flash.

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9781581809077/ <---- That's the visible book on the picture, but anatomy is only a very small part of it.

And without making too much advertisement for my favourite bookstore - Bookdepository has 95% of the books that amazon.com has, they have it at a 10-40% lower price, and they ship worldwide without shipping fees. The anatomy book is the price of a few cups of coffee or a few beers . If you want an anatomy book - buy that one. It's from 1960's, but i still think it's the best i have.

I used Painter to do a rough of how I wanted it laid out and then went into Illustrator to refine the measurements and angles. I built the chair using 70% wood scraps and 60% hardware such as screws and L-brackets retrieved from previous projects that were dismantled for whatever reason(it's truly "green" and sustainable.....Backyard LEEDS cert? Anybody? Somebody? Hehe ). This was completed July 08', since then I've learned how to use Autocad 2009, which if I had done so prior to building this, it would have cut the man hours down drastically during the design phase.

I had to take some pics for an article so I got some new ones. The studio with the white walls is my studio at school.

fanooch, Dude, I love the gloomy clutter of your art cave as much as I love the bright organization of Steve Kim's alternate art dimension. Both are wonderful creative spaces that say much about the artist who stalks their corridors and sanctuaries.

I have to say though, fanooch, you have the most awesome studio ever! It looks like heaven for artists!

I gotta say that looking at the studios of your guys makes me wanna weep. All these are truly Hollywood-style designer studios, the kind Pixar artists use! I wish I could afford stuff like that.

Been wanting to contribute to this thread for a while. Moved into a new place just this month and have got it set up pretty much like I want now, except I'm in need of bookshelves for my books and games and other nicknacks and doodaas. Thought I'd show yah.

My nice big table, so much space to fill with stuff. Oh, and don't let that single Coke can fool you, I have enough empty cans to build a fortress soon.

My drawing table, haven't used it in a while since it's been tucked away in storage.

Gaming station for the older games. Think I need a new fat-TV though. The one I have now makes a weird wheezing noise when it's on.

Gaming area for the new games and movie viewing, just turn the screen around. Works pretty nice actually.

Here's my workspace for the time being, as you might see, it's not exactly the old man with the oil-smearing type of studio, haha =)

It's not ideal for any larger traditional work, but it works for digital and a small sketchbook =)

One day, when I'm not a poor student, then I'll get a real one, but until then, I'll just have to work with it, hehe
