Hey Sevans, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I really like how clean and crisp your work looks. I'd love to see some more shots of the car you've been working on. It's looking really nice! Keep working hard.
Justin Roesner - I'll put more shots up, But I've hit a snag so I'm having a few days breather. The clear (that I've used hundreds of times before with this paint) has made the red side only, go very mottled and 'speckled' looking. Stand back a metre it looks fine, lean in and it looks like shit.
So the car may be getting a slightly repaint or if that doesn't work, a major redo. F'ing paint!

NOBODY DIES A VIRGIN...LIFE FUCKS US ALL..
i really like the linework style you've been developing, the only thing is some of the figures look a bit awkward in their poses, more so on the pages with lots of figures crammed together. doing some quick gestures before you lay down lines might help that out a little. you're a brave dude with that airbrush too, i'm terrified of that medium.

realextension - Thanks alot.
Killer-arts - Thanks...the X-men pick from way back? It started as a basic sketch but progress to more and more detail as I liked the image.
~*CIN*~ - You are way too kind, thanks for giving me a huge ego boost.
invinciblewombat - good call on the gestures comment, I do need to loosen my work up abit.
Don't be afraid of the airbrush, it's just paint. If you screw abit up you either alter the design or just repaint that area. Plus, it's good to get away from pencils and computers and do something more hands on.
Speaking of airbrushing, the car has had a huge revamp (because of the f**Kin clear coat) and I'll post up more pics soon.

here is a cover that I recently coloured for Airship27.com and their Secret Agent X series of pulp novels. This is the fourth cover I have coloured for them (but only three have been used).
I have included the original pencils by Rob Davis, so you can see the start and end (although they will add alot of text, logos etc).
PS - Can anyone tell me how to get a small pic to display on my Sketchbook Thread, like all the others. Couldn't see it in the FAQ section (although I might be blind!).

very nice! and congratz for the job.
you'll have to attach that in the first post of your SB (delete the other files first, attach the small one, submit. then press edit again and attach the other files again too). hope it makes sense.
hello thanks for looking at my sketch book, i really like how all your figure drawings have an amazing sence of depth and volume, and I really like your car.
Glass eye - Thanks for the kind words.
Anyway, here's some more pics of my 'redone' car. This time the new clear coat didn't 'mottle' the paint.
I will be adding some pinstriping to the bonnet, boot and sides in the near future.

goddamn, nice work on the car. Looks fantastic.
One thing I will say over all is that while you generally know what you are doing some of your stuff winds up pretty static, it needs some motion, or some expressive lines.
mollymillions - Thanks for the car comments, and the static comment is completely spot-on. I can see that myself but can't seem to shake it yet.

A recent pic for a challenge at another forum. The brief was to use their character and a crab (for the zodiac sign Cancer) and do a pin-up.
This image might get some colour, if I have time before the deadline.
JailHouseRock - Thanks, yeah the orange is a tiny bit friendlier and suits the cute(ish) creatures more.
jedininjaman - Looks can be deceiving, the pretty paint helps hide the rust!
I'm actually fairly quick at airbrushing, cause it was basically all freehand, but each version was probably 20-25+ hours of work.
Thanks for the rating too - too generous.

i like really the subdumed colour theme of the crab battle, maybe shadows could be little more directional and deep (contrast?)

Nettle_Mountain - Thanks for the crit, can see what you mean, but the pic is done and entered now.
Anyway here is some more recent work. It's hanging in a local gallery called Art Upstairs. All in oils, except the 3 older airbrushed skulls.

The car airbrushing stands out. Kick ass work.
Criticism: A lot of the line drawings of people lack proportions and some accurate definition of structure. Although, it does look very stylized. Personally, I like a little more variation of line weight to help with selective focus.
I like your style, but I feel that it could be pushed further to employ some more depth and dynamics. Thanks for posting your stuff. Keep posting.

your eyes are getting better, but you probably shouldn't draw an outline all the way around them unless your doing it for a specific reason. Check out leyendeckers eyes. They should have volume, and be inside the head... not iconic.
Bulldawg and Batcustard - thanks the helpful crits. Been along time between posts here, haven't done too much creative stuff lately, but will hopefully have a few things to post up this week.
