Auhsan - They are fun, but also annoying. Less control than a pencil or pen. My hands are pretty shaky too, but I just try and hide my mistakes.

Lee W - Yeah, they came out fairly decent, esp since I hadn't done any tonal style pencil work for years. Thanks.

nice workload, try working more on the less interesting parts, hands and so on, i cant do it well, but with a little practice im convinced YOU will!

Dude. Awesome sketchbook. That airbrush demon is badass. I love your line art, its very clean and professional looking. I like your use of different colours as shadows. That's a neat way of shading.

Are you gonna add more colour to any of these, like those "super(hero)group" sketches you have or do you prefer black and white?

Played with my airbrushed picture in photoshop, added a few highlights and another colour. May have to alter the original painting now.

Hey Sevans, I really like your ink style! I like the sharp and clear black and white, that mind me Magnus from Alan Ford, for some reasons. Much respect for your devotion to strong anatomies, I think that we have some common origins (I'm an old fan of Masters of The Universe!).
Here my two cents:

-I see that you have great attention to the lines, but sometimes they don't seem an unique gesture, expecially on the strong lines, where I see different margins (just like if you first create an "outline of the line" and then ink inside). I think that gestures are strongly important on this kind of works. My advice is to tryng using brushes instead markers, I know is a lot less comfortable (me too use often markers) but brushes can let you do an incredible amount of variations on the line, a strong level of black (if you use the right ink, like Windsor&Newton Black India) and a really pretty gesture style. Try also to interrupt the outline sometime, to suggest a bright side, imho can work well on your drawings.

-Focus a little more on eyes and hands, your work deserve it!

-Try to vary your references. Bodybuilder are good, but sometimes they scream "I'm a bodybuilder! I'm ready for a muscle contest". Some not too young muscolar man (Like Arnold or the Hulkster today) or some worker (like a factory worker whit strong arms and great belly) can be really interesting.

-On comic design purpose, you may find usefull some exercise focused on relationship between characters and some background study.

ICH - Thanks for the crits, and I will try some more brush work too. I also like this statement 'interrupt the outline sometime, to suggest a bright side', makes sense to me.

I have drawn a few more eyes recently, but must admit to neglecting the hands.

Could you give me a few more details about this comment 'you may find usefull some exercise focused on relationship between characters and some background study' - I cant quite understand what you mean. Examples may help.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my SB. I really like your work, you have a great technique. I think what ICH is trying to say is draw more backgrounds, your characters are almost always floating. I know it's tough to do because I have the same problem! I would have to say my favorites are either your colored pencil on toned paper, or the white and black pencils on toned paper.

two crits:

1.) Your musculature is all very nice, however you tend to draw it all from the same angle, and the poses tend to all be very similar (especially with the men, the poses tend to be total side views or frontal views). Taking from that, the largest problem I see is that most of your characters have very stiff backs; they are hardly ever bending them very much.

2.) In my eyes, the neck is the second area that needs some work. I think you tend to make the neck too long, as if the person was standing erect with their neck stretched upwards to the limit. However, as your SB has progressed you have gotten much better when it come to drawing necks.

I don't know, it could just be me, but that's what I see. All in all, great work. Keep it up, I want to see more.

Augmenton - No, your spot on. In most sketches I never draw backgrounds (doesn't really interest me - but I should) and the neck is always a problem area for me.

Half of the poses are from bodybuilders/atheletes etc, so that's probably why most look roughly the same.

Like I say on my signature, I'm very sorry for my english, guys... I'm totally self-taught on this language and I'm tryng to improove day by day. One of this days I have to take some serious lessons ;-]
Augmenton was in right, what I'm tryng to say is just draw more backgrounds. About "relationship" I mean "interaction" like fight, kisses, hughs, shacking hands, conversation etc... between two or more characters instead drawing alone people.

You have a very nice and tight style, I like your ink linework a lot. What I'd like to see are different body types in your drawings, so far I've seen a lot of musculated guys, but I'd like to see more average and fat people.

Your girls are getting softer looking! Tip: draw lashes like you draw hair - like locks of hair, small masses. One hair by another makes it a li'l naked looking in the eye area, when they're being glamourous.

Great to see your different mediums and you playing with them. Keep at it!

Your linework is nice and clean, and you've been told many times what is good, so I'll focus on the critique:

The individual elements of your drawings somehow don't mesh together very well - your style of drawing is so strongly stylized that it begins to interrupt the flow of the forms you draw. Also the anatomy is often somewhat generic, like you were consciously trying to emphasize that this is comic art instead of trying to "sell" the characters as such. Maybe you are, I've seen similar things done before a lot, quite consciously, but if it is an intentional choice, I still feel you're risking mannerism here. It's hard to say based on a sketchbook like this - I don't know if this is all you do, I don't know what your thoughts behind it really are - but I'd recommend, as someone did before, life drawing and generally trying a looser style from time to time.

Heres some more sketching. As people mentioned I haven't drawn too many females or non-body builders. Plus a terrible page of 'made up' anatomy and a couple of snaps of a Hulk painting (airbrushed) that I have just finished.

Auhsan - Thanks, unfortunately I didn't grab any photos of the first few stages, but it was basically put in the mid tone (green or flesh) and the dark areas, think of it as ink work on coloured paper.

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. You got some nice work going on in here. A few gems that caught my eye were the Silversurfer, Star Wars characters, and the Hulk one right above.

A few crits... The comic book stuff looks good, but there is very little variation in your character design. A lot of the figures look the same and are drawn the same style. Would be nice to see some more shading and/or color as well as some backgrounds. I know thats been mentioned before... Some life drawing, still life's and observational drawing I think would help you greatly improve your current drawing skills. Some gesture drawings I think would help you loosen up a bit, which would give your heroic comic characters some more life to their poses.

wow, the airbrush on Canvas looks really nice! i never use airbrush b4, cos i like some easy media...haha, lazy...
but it's a good technique and makes your stuff look really cool!

Draniel - Thanks, the airbrush can be annoying but it is fun, and for some reason people seem to like my airbrushed stuff - even though it's pretty simple.
