    Updated 17-5-2007 (some nudity)

Have recently had trouble drawing decent females, so I have filled a few pages to get back into it.
Plus a few anatomy sketches, having problems with womens hips.
And a page of Movie shots, some altered and played with.

    C & C welcomed as usual.

JOSHUA - I will crack out the pencils and toned paper very soon. Thanks for the reply and good comments.

    Howdy Sevans.

I really like the way you draw females most, especially that puppet/wire frame deal there near the bottom. However the thing that was most [uh] eye catching was the way you draw male midsection's. It goes from incredibly broad to incredibly slim. I think its just an aesthetic but it still bugs me.

Excellent color pieces as well. I really dig the skull.

Here are some recent colour concepts, all aimed at producing some Low Brow Airbrushed artwork. Just playing with ideas and common icons.

Great work. I really like your inking. Your figure studies are really inspiring, good rhythm to the figures throughout, except in moving from the head into the torso in many cases. There I would say your proportion problems largely lie. i don' know if you begin with the head or end with it, but the heads in many of your figure sketches feel like they're considered apart from the whole, so that they seem out-sized and don't feel like they're flowing out of their necks, which in turn don't flow out of the torso, where the flow from muscle groups on arms into arms which in turn flow into the torso and into its muscle groups and bony landmarks are really well-realized in your drawings, but anyway, you had a page of small, schematic figure sketches which look like you ironed that out and I'm sorry this seems crit-heavy. Come back to my sketchbook and zap me good, if you feel like it (I'd certainly appreciate it)
"Damn you, now I must watch Conan"?
lol-Yeah, I can tell from your sketches watching Arnie strike a pose with a sword really breaks your heart

sevans! youve got nice works specially your airbrush works, but again as some mentioned above your inking is to tight and you have some issues with proportion,
you need to losen up your lines a little bit, a little exercise i do to losen me lines is to draw a circle until me new sharpened led is out, it helps as ive learned from me animation experience
forgive me grammar! hopes this helps
    overall nice work!

    Cool stuff here, SEVANS.
I dig the 'comic book' look to them all and lovely use of colors in some of them.

You seem to like doing faces and big muscles
Keep em' coming, you sure are productive!

And thanks for typing in my sketchbook.

very nice and clean work you got here~!! The colors you use also go well with your bold linework.

I'd like to see some figure work from you though to see what you got going on there too. hehe

cool stuff, I like the graphic, pulp look to your work. Super clean.

I'm not sure what to critique, except that I feel like the poses of some of your figures are kind of stiff or look uncomfortable. Also your hands seem a bit unnatural. In the last post, the girl holding the ball and the last girl with the mohawkish cut both have the same hand and they both look awkward.

naji53 - Thanks for the comments, yeah the hands are a weakness, especially when I draw a pic with no real idea and try and find a 'pose' for the hand. Probably would be alot better if I had a rough idea what they were meant to be doing first - so I could get some good body language etc.

vann12 - As long as you visit, I don't care when. Thanks for the crit and get some sleep!

the linework is very clean and clear, that's very cool but i think you should draw less of those classical american themes and more innovative and unusual stuff

D2X - I can see where your coming from about being more innovative, but I also love the old classical themes. I have tried a few fresher ideas, but my sensibilty keeps coming back to the custom 'icons'.

I have been thinking of trying a more illustrative/ fantasy art style with the airbrush (think Frazetta or Boris without the talent) and mixing in subtle iconic images etc. A way of combining my favourite influences so to speak.

Just re-read alot of the comments etc, and I will try to break my long neck habit.

Any crits about the quick character designs would be greatly appreciated. These were names given to me by other people, for a challanege to create soem trading card art. Just look at the names and make suggestions if you got em!

Here's my latest painting (with airbrushed highlights) of a custom chopper.
I was basically trying to combine my love of linework with airbrushing. I might be redoing the front wheel though.

hey sevans, cool sb. Your shading is really strong, comic style. Those colour concepts at the top of page 2 are fantastic, as is your other airbrushed stuff. That last peice is tight.

As far as crits, your anatomy/proportions could use some work, especially noticed that some of your pelvis' are coming out a bit small and the latissimus dorsi is coming out a bit far especially (though thats most likeley just due to muscley bodybuilder anatomy ) but strong stuff overall.

You've got an interesting stylized take on anatomy. Great f*kin' linework fo' sho'. I think you would do well designing tattoos. I really enjoyed post #33. Also the post with Thor and Hulk was great. Keep it up.

Hey man, great work so far.
Post 17 pics are my favorites, esp the arnie and Giger-based pieces, and sk0021 on post 15. Your linkework and inking is your strength. I couldnt help but keep thinking of "Pumping Up With Hans & Franz" after a while though. Try throwing in some studies of less muscular, average looking people. Awesome airbrushing too btw. And thanx for visiting my SB!

Nizza_waaarg - "... the latissimus dorsi is coming out a bit far especially". Thanks for the comments and crit, yeah the impressive lats are all the bodybuilders fault.

Piranha Clan - Thanks, I'm actually really surprised at how many people like the Thor pic (because I'm not that taken with it). I guess the linework suits the subject. And I have been told the Tattoo comment several times before.

mofongo - "Try throwing in some studies of less muscular, average looking people". Yeah, I do actually need to do that with males and females. Thanks for the comments.

Next update. Here are a couple more rough pages of character concepts (they will be made into trading card art) and a sculpture that I made out of air drying clay, coke cans, nails, wire etc. Thought that I would put up something different.

I think I like your most recent pages the best out of your sketchbook because you can tell that you are having fun. I really like your style, but you may find that you learn faster if you focus less on the consistency of your style and play around a bit. Fun sculpt, that air dry clay seems like it would be a pain to work with for such minute detail.

There is a lot of good stuff here, there really isn't a whole lot of criticism I can offer. All of your stuff has a delightful (this is the first time I've ever used that word) 3d quality about it. Kind of reminds me of Richard Corben's work.
I would like to see you do some stuff with thinner lines and more shading though.
