The space smuggler came out nicely, and most of your character work is posed and stylized wonderfully. Rendering your characters seems to be a bit of a weak point, try staying away from light <> dark and work a little more on the in-between.

Yeah, these silhouettes are really good.
Sketchbook, with apes, insects and fallen cities.
Sketchlog, more or less a portfolio.

    hey thanks!
i guess i should post something eh? haha
i've got a lot of new stuff to post as soon as i get permission. some avengers end title sequence story boards, sons of anarchy promo boards, and a NEW fx show that hasn't started airing yet called "the americans" that i did boards for. some very exciting stuff that i can't wait to post!

i've been freelancing with time warner cable sports for a while now, and instead of getting on Facebook during downtime (renders/ram previews/approvals/etc), i've been opening up photoshop (or illustrator) and sketching.
so heres a few things until i can post the more exciting stuff:

i was inspired by all the sports stuff even though i'm not really into sports, did these sketches. the sketch of Kobe Bryant was from a photo reference... i changed the legs a bit. i'm pretty happy that i was actually able to get a hint of a likeness:

so i photoshopped the fuck out of it:
    Name: Kobe.jpg

Size: 321.6 KB

i want to be Lobo for halloween, so i sketched it out. this is supposed to be ME as Lobo, thats why the hair is shorter and he has a scraggly beard instead of the traditional Lobo design.

i've always envied people who can do caricature work... took a stab at it. bryan cranston was with photo reference, don knotts was straight from my head.

cool caricatures! i love the style of them. you would definitley get my money for a caricature when i run into you on the street

haha and i have to remember the phrase "photoshopped the fuck out of it"... probably my second favourite regarding art after "shut up its magic!" when someone tells you something looks wrong.

WOW. This is excellent! I really want you to record your process. I want to see precisely how you did this! Beautiful work.

MAKE A DAMN VIDEO OF YOUR PROCESS, ALREADY.

lewiston, thanks a lot man. that means a lot coming from you. i'm a huge fan of your work.

nye, thanks dude. i didn't know anyone even noticed the music. haha

cedule, thanks man. i feel like a total noob tho. i like it when caricature artists push the anatomy more, but i feel like i completely lose the likeness when i do that.

magnut, thanks mang. i just downloaded a program the other night that will allow me to record my screen... now i just need to get over that super self conscious vibe i have that is causing me to completely freeze when i start recording. haha

thanks man. yeah, the hardest part was making the stencil for the back of the jacket.
i made it in illustrator, then printed it out a few times on some thick card stock.
i took the card stock and figured out how to make it into stencils, each element was a separate pass.
then i tried spray-painting it... but that was a miserable failure.
got some new denim, and then tried acrylic with a brush through the stencil. that worked much better.
in the end i was very happy with the results.
