Ever fractured you Drawing Hand bone?

I fractured my right hand ulna bone due to a fight 6 week ago and have just open the cast yesterday. As of now I can rotate my wrist and my forearm looks wonky. They told me I need at least 2 weeks therapy to get back to my normal hand usage.

Any of you with the same experience? How early were you able to use your drawing arm again?

actually a few of my friends whom are also artist have suffered a boxer fracture, and ill pass on the same advice I gave them try and take your carreer a little more seriously. I mean you dont hear about too many surgeons getting in arm wrestling matches or playing with chinese finger traps. So try and concider the stakes at hand, Or learn to draw with your feet.

Count yourself lucky that you had it taken care of. I had something similar happen a few years ago. It healed improperly and it hasn't been the same since.

I broke my right thumb... it's not as bad as other examples, but it did force me to draw with my left hand for many a month. I had it taken care of in time, but it's never going to be the way it was before I broke it. I lost some range of motion and sometimes it hurts if I hold things a certain way

Broke my drawing hand pounding a floor to try and shut up the hideous noise coming from the flat below. It was concrete underneath the carpet.

Best story I heard though from Glenn Fabry the DC cover artist. He fell out a moving train bounced along the tracks, busted his elbow, lost lots of blood, wandered dazed along the track and avoided being run over by other trains and electrocution. He had a plaster cast on his arm and had to paint his first few hellblazer covers arm horizontal out from his body with only movement in his fingers. Did some amazing work though.

Trying to learn to write and draw with my left hand, getting slightly better so far but as usual not much control. Right hand is getting better with more range of motion butt still stiff and my ulnar bone has somewhat a potruding outwards curvature making my forearm looked curve... hopefully when the bone gets to it's 100% alignment, it will look normal..

Well it's time to give up MMA . And thanks for the replies, gave me hope .

When I was like 13 or so I was walking across the top of some monkey bars and slipped and fell right threw. I landed on my left arm and broke it near the elbow and in a tiny spot on the wrist. My left arm was useless for about 6 weeks. (My arm was in one of those "L" shaped casts) I could barely hold a pencil let alone draw. I did try switching hands during that time..but it just never felt right.

Broke my drawing wrist in Feb, used it as an opportunity to become ambidextrous. Six weeks later I could draw about 80% as well with my left as with my right, just lacking a bit of line control. That practice translated into a lot of other things as well - better throwing with my left arm, better catching, and a lot more strength (can now do one arm chinups, woooo!)

    So, no great loss.
