Colours are improving and your ideation process seems to be getting better and better and better. Keep at this mate, and keep experimenting

The colors on that last one look really nice, my friend...ahhh I always feel so far behind you! I would say that with those figures you're letting hte hands get just a bit out of proportion but otherwise they're looking pretty strong! Just grabbing colors and only doing that can be pretty tough, yeah.
Are you allowing yourself to use the eyedropper on the painting at least? I'd be so doomed without that! Keep going with those studies, you're doing a noble thing! If you don't know how to proceed you can do what I've been doing, listen to a Bobby Chiu podcast and work on something you're really bad at! If you need some inspiration for subject matter...DSG? Hahaha...that'll be getting you to work outside your comfort zone.
DanielC & a la bapsi & Mischeviouslittleelf : Thanks!
sketcheth: thanks dood...but your newer pieces are getting real good. Theres nothing to worry about. Thanks for the advice....and yea i use the colour picker...haha i guess i could try not to use it but it would take a lot of time to finish anything o.0.
Sorry for not updating my SB in ages guys! Here are some studies:
The first is a portrait study from a photo ref inspired by Zhang Lu.
The second is a study of a painting by Benjamin
The third is a bouguereau study. I'm pretty please with this one. Although proportions are off as usual...I managed to match the value/hue/saturation of each stroke fairly accurately....i hope haha
Great updates man!!Those last 3 are great!
D@niel : Thanks!
Here's a speed paint i did and a lliya repin study.
EDIT: O yea....Happy Chinese New Year!!!!!

Happy Chinese New Year and stuff! Dude...your colors are getting phenomenal... i really like what you're doing with these studies...really healthy looking observational skills.Especially on the classical portraitstuff....awesome... anyways, I'd like to see you put this stuff into practice more often.
Abstaining from the color picker, I've found is very hard...very hard. Even if you're working from life or something and you just want to select every color manually...for blending it just seems to save time if you use the dropper, but I think you always run the risk of things getting muddy if you do that. Well good luck on your future endeavors, these all look great! How are those pencils doing?
looking real sweet man, digging the amount of studies you've been doing...we should probably design some concepts for once like eric haha
your portraits are excellent!
only a couple things bother me- the white strokes in his beard (the bouguereau) are enormously distracting and seem last minute.
as well the right eye (his right) on the 'red' portrait seems haphazard and rushed, it doesn't seem fully incorporated.
those are minor, overall they are sublime!
hey fellow country mate! found you out while checking out paperx's self portrait thread haha... which school ur originated from? :o hope you ORD soon hehe
sketcheth : haha thanks....yea the master studies are heaps of fun to do. My pencils are alright..haha i still do draw in my sketchbooks but its just too much hassle to upload...:/
paperX : lol....concepts are actually quite hard...which is y i'm amazed at sketcheth's ability to churn them out everyday o.0
Oranje Joe : haha thanks, i'll keep that in mind the next time i start a study!
notti : yo! I used to study in New Zealand...only came back to Singapore for my NS....ORDing soon...in june...can't wait for my freeeeeeedom!!!!111!!!. hahaha. Check out Farsh's SB in my signature if you haven't already. He's an amazing artist from singapore too. Too bad he's going to enlist soon......
2 x speedies
EDIT: decided to take some photos of my sketches to upload...just for you erichaha
EDIT 2: wow...you can see how much lens distortion there is...check out the right edge of my sketchbook....look how much it curves O_O

Looking good here! I see a lot of improvement-the hands especially seem to have improved a lot. Watch proportions though; the arms seem very long compared to the legs sometimes.
By the way, are those fabric studies from a class or from a book somewhere? I really need to learn how to draw fabric.![]()

Kim_bot : Hmm thanks for pointing that out. Yea....its an endless struggle...I'm doing the fabric studies from a book called "Drawing the Draped Figure", by George B. Bridgman

Hey there,
fellow people from the tiny dot.Nice sketches u have there. You are making really good progress. I love your recent master studies.
We should start a singapore sketch group. I want to improve my skills but sometimes lack the motivation and peer pressure?

Mydrako Hey dood! Thanks...and yea...me and a couple other guys wanted to start a Singapore Sketchgroup too but it didn't go very far...I'll try to gather the guys up again to see what we can get going.
Something I've been working on for the past couple of days.
A Sorolla Study...This one was really hard for me...The tones were really subtle...
...Err...does anyone know how to fix the colour problem photoshop seems to have...the image I save out is always more desaturated and has less contrast than the image I paint in photoshop
EDIT: haha i fixed it...I changed the colour profile of my monitor to match the colour profile photoshop was using...
i like both your drawins and your paintings a lot. just keep doing what youre doing

Katzenminze : Thank you I will!!
paperX : Yea I see what you mean...guess I didn't pay as much attention to the ear.
