Another entry for the ArtOrder Tuesday Sketch Contest.

If you don't know what Boll Weevil (the less evil brother of the Deevil) is, google it

Description: I decided that my Deevils will have powerful air attacks and would be used to disrupt formations of enemy infantry. They can pump the air both ways - to perform both fanner and suction attacks. (Also, the air creates small tornados above their butts - it has to go somewhere.

)

I've been told by quite a few people that I use too saturated colors so I'm trying to paint a bit less saturated

also I used warm rust-ish red to to separate the foreground figures from the cold-blue background.

Another Concept Tuesday Sketch challenge picture!

"In this months "Confessions of a Full-time Wizard" Dragon® column, Shelly Mazzanoble talks about her desire for a new familiar...well, an unfamiliar familiar. Not only do I love reading Shelly's pieces, but I love the idea of an unfamiliar familiar! The concept this time is to step away from the normal familiars (cats, rats, snakes, ravens, etc.) and dream up something new and interesting...or hysterical, if you are like Shelly."

It's some kind of magical lemur-like creature. "Candle light is bad for the eyes - buy a moonlur instead!"

I have no real helpful comments to make right now, but I did want to drop in a comment anyways. I think it's really cool to see how your process/work is evolving on the desert scene, and I think that your composition (like for the piece of the Deevils) is awesome, I love all the angles of the flailing arms, etc. I also think that the concept is really interesting and creative. I'll be lurking around to see more progress.

Hopefully I can actually offer some constructive criticism then. I feel like saying "OMG, COOL!" is really a disservice, since it doesn't enable the artist to get any better or improve. Keep it up, anyways, and I'll try to be more constructive in my next comment.

Wow, the clothes and figures in that are really amazing. I love the detail you got into the clothes, and the styles of everything. The only criticism I have is that the horse's skin (hair?) seems not finished, like it should be smoothed more and have less lines on it. I think what I'm saying shows most in the middle horse. Other then that, great job. I really love the little added guy shooting in the background, it makes it feel more real and interesting.

I have looked at quite many reference photos for the horse hair and different horses and breeds have very different texture - from very smooth and silky shiny to rough and ruffled.
Anyway, I'm glad you like it.

1) Another submission for Jon Schindehette's ArtOrder Concept Tuesday sketch challenge.

This week we were supposed to choose a silhouette painted by someone else for the previous challenge and render it out.

I didn't have much time to do it and I could spend more time refining it, but I simply had to submit it like this.
