DSG 1199: Prehistoric Sci-Fantasy: DINOSAURS ENCOUNTER CRASHED ALIEN SHIP & SURVIVORS

    [ Hmm... ]

[ What sort of meeting might this be, I wonder? ]

[ I'm thinking that the abrupt and damaged nature of the aliens arrival has probably put them at something of a disadvantage against some of the more sharply-toothed locals... ]

[ ...but, maybe they've still got a defense mechanism or two? ]

[ Or maybe they lucked out by crashing near some less fearsome dinos, and are not currently on the defensive... I suppose that's possible, if a bit less dramatic. ]

[ There IS also the option that the aliens are of a more predatory variety themselves, in which case the dinosaurs might be in trouble. ]

[ There are so many, many ways that this one could be approached. ]

[ If you're not familiar with dinosaurs, I highly recommend that you track down some reference. ]

[ Same goes for the aliens. ]

Took an hour. Its more like dinasaur encounters alien spaceship survivor, but close.

Trying to experiment painting with 100% opacity. Started blocking in greys & then color as suggested by ashton, seems to help alot!

Oh, & ref used was Jurassic Park's velociraptors. The aliens ref was the aliens movie, but I wanted to have an alien less like a predator.

This is my first post here. Enjoy. I think it took about an hour or so. I futz with somethings in Photoshop, but am not happy with a few things. Brachiosaurus was from a book I have and the aliens I made up on my own.

Heres my offering after about 30 min. Guess I'm the only one who decided the aliens would go on the offensive? HA!

    Thoughts, crits?

    Jack Frost: Love that, seriously.
    Larkin2: Great job aswell.
Michael Huggins: MSPaint. Mouse. I loathe you

Next time, I'm going to go for the impressionistic-y thing first rather than later.

MikeHiggins: You're kidding. MSPaint? A mouse? You must be mad.

"Astronomy offers an aesthetic indulgence not duplicated in any other field. This is not an academic or hypothetical attraction and should require no apologies, for the beauty to be found in the skies has been universally appreciated for unrecorded centuries."

I wasn't going to do today's DSG, but since I was trying out brushes, and had a dozen or so CS2 crashes, I felt I had to do something fun, then I had some more crashes and I lost the piece, but the initial sketch was saved due to excessive ctrl+s I've been forced upon today

anyway - I'm tired of CS2 and drawing at the moment, so I fear this will have to do, sorry.

Oh, I've been playing around with ink brushes today, hate the brushes really, due to the crashes, but I love the style of drawing (should really get painter)

Hullo All! With the arrival of a computer strong enough to support my Christmas present (Corel Painter IX.5), I'm delighted to finally post something in DSG. That, and I just couldn't pass up a dinosaur.

Here's mine. It's a somewhat quick doodle in B&W. I'm trying to get better at contrast and tone.
