hahaha, i like how he's walking a pet turtle... lawl, thats so funny.
here is a quick sketch of a guy without hair
here my first attempt to painting...
i'm not too happy with the result, it was more alive as a sketch and i fucked certain things up down the road of painting it i guess...
could someone give me feedback about what i could do better?
ok, this is a studie. I say that because i dont really see this as art. what i did is do an overlay of the foto. It was ment to studie the technique in PS (blend with eyedropper), see the different tint of the human skin, paint hair, cross hatch to show direction of hair and planes in face. i must say this was a VERY educational painting for me... and i like to watch at it because she's a good lookin chick![]()

hi, a quick post, not finished yet
First, I think you have to work on facial anatomy. For example, in your first and third ones, their eyes are too small, and in all three their noses are just dots on their face.
Practice with pencil and paper first, before going on to digital and keep on posting.
kevin lam: thanks for the reply! you are right about my faces. i have got myself 2 books of andrew loomis, "figure drawing for all its worth" and "dawings heads and hands". i hope to improve this way.
i have a lot of drawings gathered for the last half year. (since i started practicing drawing). so here is the first (and worst) part, i tried to sort it chronologically. first i have focused mainly on basic perspective and now i want to learn basic firgure drawing and head drawing. plz leave some comments about things i should focus on to improve.. thanks!!!
nice studies, keep doing them and it should soon show in your other works - for as an example the turtle boy is probably not meant to be limp, yet one leg looks shorter then the other and so on - once you get more knowledge under your wings you'll sore![]()
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
Hey Jelle welcome to CA dude.
The portrait turned out really well but I already told you that.
However I haven't seen the works in your last post before and IMO it's looking really good, well done!
I have one tiny crit about the first sketch in your last post (which is my favorite although I'd love to see a further developed version of the second one).
I think the figures in it are too big compaired to the surroundings, it would bemuch stronger if the people would be much smaller.
Maybe it's just my personal taste, still I think the figures look abnormally big next to the buildings.
Anyways good going man, keep it up and see your around!
dan liimatta: thanks for checking my sb! you are right, he looks a but limp doesnt he... maybe the turtle bit his leg! i have books about drawing figures, i am studying much out of these books (andrew loomis) so i hope it will improve.
Envisor: thanks man! i will upload some pencil caracters right now!!
Rudeone: hey rudy, thanks for the post man! i was aware of the problem, the guys were way to big, so here is the revised version. about the 2nd environment, i dont feel like finishing it in a state as the first one. i dont really like the whole thing, so i dont want to put any more time and effort in it. i will pass on with new fresh idea's. btw thanks for all andrew loomis books man, i think they will help me so much!! see you around dude!
now here are some more old sketches. some of them are expirements with chalk. cool medium but very hard not to get messy... it needs alot of practice.

Great update. Your characters are really cool. There loose and very creative. Especially in your 6th pic youve just posted. Cant wait for more. Would love to see more figure studies and definitly more characters.
Envisor: thx man! that kid is inspired by the skater in the animatrix movie 'beyond'
Jens: thanks! when i begun drawing i focused primarily on perspective drawing. so now i'm just starting out drawing figures and people, so i think you are right! i hope to get better at it tho.
here are some figure drawings from my book 'figure drawing for all its worth'
i have some lowsy sketches of the period i did some game design for a school project. i decided to show them here.
also some new thumbnails of environments, just expirimenting
bye!
The backgrounds and thumbnails are looking good.
those environment studies w perspective are ridiculous as are the ball renderings. u also seem to have a nice stylized touch and vivid imagination. i think just do as many of the technical/foundational studies as u can to become comfortable w how it works thatn apply your individuality to it and your stuff will really shine. your value studies are spot on, id love to see some more color studies in your work. anyway badass start man keep it up.
Hey, thanks for posting in my sketchbook. I got to say your environments look awesome and I really like that tentacle-thingie. Keep up the good work!
DARAF:thank you kind
kawakaze: thanks!
Zombie_dla: thanking you
well, the last period of time, i have been busy with school, but i did make time for drawing in the evenings. i decided now to scan some recent sketches at school.
so i have been studying the books of loomis because i wanted to get more into caracter design. i figured i first wanted my line drawings to be good before im going to move on to rendering. i focused on head upper torso and arms using only lines to indicate directions of forms.
so here are the first drawings i will update soon with some more sketches
bye!

so here it is, i did this in like half an hour i think
ok, plz leave a message with tips or crits!
see ya!
nice marker/enviorement sketches and rendering exercises...good to see you spot your own weakness and that you are working on anatomy...keep sharing, no matter how many the replies may be, just keep sharing
ciao
Good start, keep up the studies an work on you line quality.
Try to draw cleaner lines, and never go over the same line twice mate.

Gnoll: hehe i kinda got worried nobody ever replied but you saved the dayyup i know thats my weak point indeed, but i think i improved in the anatomy of the face i think. and the upper torso. but if you see things that arent correct then please notice! i still have to know a lot more about the hand/ leg/ foot anatomy. thanks for the reply!
brendan: thanks for the reply. yeah you are right about my line quality. its something i recently became aware of. i must think of every line have a direction and arc have one purpose, to define shapes. thats the only function a line has. hatching is another story off course. but i'll focus on that another time i think.
now i done another painting of a pencil sketch, just because i didnt touch my wacom for 2 months i really want to check if i make any progress on valuepaintings.
see ya and plz crit me baby!
