    vc's sketchbook

Well, the time has come to stand up and take some stripes.

I am 24 yrs. old and a concept artist in the games industry. I hope to use this book as a swift kick in the ass. The goal is to never post old stuff, just the new, and hopefully track some progress. Comments and crit will always be welcome.

    Lets get this party started

I have this thing about rabbits... Crazy I know, but a good excuse to work on creatures. I let them multiply and replenish my sketchbooks. I think it started after seeing some of Michel Gagne's wonderfully creative stuff. I wanted to see how far I could push it, and haven't been able to stop.

    Great little monsters!
The one in the bottle is my favorite, seems like you know what you're doing.

Your colors are ok and values look solid but I think your backgrounds need work. Also let's see some things other than modified rabbits : ). Good start though, look forward to seeing some more man.

i agree with the bg issue, but the pencils have a nice style. Especially like second page of your last post.

I would strongly recommend to work these out and color them.
    Keep it up

    gestures

Wow, I didn't expect such a kind welcome. Thanks for the comments, I do take them into account. These sketches are for a really big freelance job, lots of character design and development. The client has given permission for me to post the work in progress. I'm excited to see where this project will lead.

I really like your pencil sketches, they are definately your strongest peices so far. I agree with the others guys that you should work some colour into them.

Its good to see more peeps from the UK. Which company do you work for?

I love the pencils, and the monsters, oh and the bunnies, can't forget them, not when they are in bottles, and the mastermind of evil robots.

My favourite is probably the bottle bunny, probably because I'm weak for mass drawing, but anyway you have started a killer SB.

I'm really liking those newer sketches, some great movement going on. The cowboy character has some cool stuff happening, he reminds me of the character in Darkwatch a lil bit.

Simply stunning work, your colors are bright and beautiful, and your pencilwork is great as well. Love how the figures move off to the next page too. Can't wait to see more.

    sketches

I am finnally starting to get over being sick. I hate being unproductive. The good news is that i've learned my lesson and will never take time off work again.
    thanks for comments
The first gesture was inspired by another sketch done here on ca, but for the life of me I can't remember the artist.
