    Everything & Nothing- My Sketchbook

Hello everyone, I wanted to start a sketchbook to improve on my skills so you can say what you like but i would prefer helpful crits

I thought I would start of with a sp, every time i do one i look grumpy but I ain't I promise. I've never been any good at painting as you can tell but I'm getting a lil better. Done this in Painter 9.5 btw

This second image is a character concept I'm developing. It was first created in Photoshop last year; I've just repainted over the top in painter again. As you can most probably tell I only did half of it. I don’t know if that is frowned upon if so i won't do it in future.

Hello, I was away this weekend only had my pad and my nude figure for artist book so I did a few sketches out of there.

    Saturday...
    The first image was my quick warm-up sketch;

The second one is a lil neater but the hand is a bit small.

    Sunday...

Believe it or not I'm trying to work on my mid tones so that the forms pop out more as suggested by Christian223.

    warm-up sketch

    Today...

I followed a tut from the new official Corel Painter mag. I was very determined not to look grumpy in this one, so I've gone for the chubby look instead . I'm gonna try and do a SP at least once a week.

    After

Hello, today I did a quick study of my hand whilst waiting for something at Uni.

I drew this one from a photo reference (again my hand) when i got home... I'm still having problems getting the forms to pop out but i will keep going.

Hello, I'm sticking with hands again; just finished a painting of my hand (photo), been at Uni all day modeling a hand, so I may stick with hands for now to get a better understanding of them. Also I will have to texture it soon. The reason for the background is experimentation, looking at hues & values.

hello, these are the last of my hand studies.
    Done theses yesterday...

did this one this morning, wanted to have a go at drawing a hand without any reference...

After having ago myself I thought i should consult a book. I COPIED these out of my BRIDGMAN book (Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life). There is a huge section dedicated to hands.

hello, not been able to do much today.

The first is a pencil drawing for a sp painting i wanted to do; will paint sometime during the week.

The second is a quick drawing from a film that was on in the background. I was trying to improve on my values again.

Hello, I have not posted in a while because I went home from Uni last week and I've been a lil busy. I took my 'The new drawing on the right side of the brain' book home with me. I got it last summer and i wanted to go back to it because I want to be more confident drawing and hopefully have a better understanding of drawing.

    Last week...

I drew these upside but as you can see i have posted a copy the right side up so to speak.

    today...
