Hey Zombie , haven't visited in awhile sorry about that . Seems like your keeping your self busy with the studies. Its great to see your doing those. The only things I see at the moment is you should try and push your contrast more, don't be afraid to get a little dark in your sketches. Just to note try and really learn from your studies and apply those to your own designs. Something I need to work on myself. Its also good your mixing up and doing your stuff and not just the studies, have to experiment with new stuff at some point, I would go insane with just the studies. keep it up, just keep focusing on your anatomy but really push it toward your own stuff, I think that way you might enjoy it more. Also it might not hurt to practice some still life studies, and setup a strong light source so you can work on your lighting and values. Happy drawing

Great studies you have going here.

Don't be afraid to go darker with your shading in certain areas.. and leaving other areas lighter, experiment.

    Keep em coming...

Hey zombie, really like the head on the right side. very cool guy. Oh I figured you might like this site. http://basangpanaginip.blogspot.com/...downloads.html If you scroll down a little you will see a few art books you can download in pdf format. I found them pretty useful.

Hey, thanks for posting in my SB. It seems like you've gotten the anatomy pretty well conceptualized, but the step after learning the muscles is to learn how they interact and how they function in order to create realistic, believable figures.

Judging from your last posted figure: http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1176666172

I'm guessing you have an exaggerated anatomy book such as Hogarth's. Compare your figure to Dorian's from the forums: http://www.stylestation.ch/discussio...1143999485.jpg

There are some obvious differences, such as how much bulk each of the figures possesses, but you should still try to give yours a similar look. You can show muscles and anatomy and still make believable figures, simplify the skin some and try to pose the figure as if his whole body was working towards balancing the figure, give the pose function even if it is erratic. Try out drawing some gestures of poses, basic drawings with using as few lines as possible to try and capture the balance and rhythm of the figure without worrying about anatomy. Hope any of this helps, but remember the best thing is practice .

Thanks Kvick for pointing that out. I've been studying faces mostly but I'll try some full body sketches and try to get a more natural look, It should be good practice. Really appreciate your help

I'm a slow updater now, sorry about that. I just got a loot of thing on my mind right now, It's really sucking away my creativity. Anyhow, here's something:

Keep pushin'er man I'm seeing lots of nice variety in here too. Consider getting a mechanical pencil. Helps with cleaner lines (and I find that I have more control with shading if I hatch+go over it with a regular wood pencil after)

I agree with Rhine, crosshatching is incredibly fun to do. Plus it will increase the quickness of your lines.

    Great studies! Your dedication shows!

Love the shading and details! Awesome-looking muscle structures on your figures, too. Reminds me that I need to work on that, lest I get rusty over the summer.

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook, too!

Thanks, people! I'll be sure to try some cross-hatching, never been good at that, but I guess it's useful to know.

Thanks Kat, really appreciate your support.

Sorry I can't give you more than this for now:

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook sooo here I am at yours! I'm impressed with the amount of studies you've done, especially the torso. Are you working from a book? The next obvious step forward would to start doing some life drawing! Which is very fun. I'll take you up on that suggestion to do more hand studies, I such at them too.

Yes, and crosshatching is a good technique to acquire. Remember to vary the length of your stokes according to and follow natural curves and lines with the hatches.

Great job sticking to those figure studies. I would suggest that you lay out a line of action and some underlines to keep everything squred away and in proportion. In the last piece his shoulder and chest is higher on the left side. Keep up the good work!!
