    Leaving CA for a while

Hey guys, i've decided it's time for me to take a break from posting on the forums. There is alot going on with my life right now and i need to put things in order.
My art is also not going very well. I see little evolution even though i work until i phisically drop. I need to take a break from posting around here and focus on my problems like hands, gestural anatomy and stuff which i've lost along the way.

So for a while i'll be away. It's all about studies studies studies. Don't know how long it will take.

    All the best,
    Chris

I believe in you brother, and that you will come out much stronger from this. I dont know why you said you dont see much evolution but I do see , the design element has got much stronger..
But if you think the break is what you need, then take it, but do it all with passion and love, bro. I hope to see tons of work from you when you come back.
Take care and all the best of luck.

    There's improvement for sure, dude.
But ditto with Bhanu, taking a break (from CA) is all good.

    Just keep drawin'!

    Alright.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger they say. Well i dunno about that.
Very short story - been through tons of crap in the past months, things got from bad to worse but somehow i was stubborn enough and managed not to die

So..i'm back. fresh and new i guess. some of you guys used to know me/this thread as "slayer" but stuff got turned around so much that i needed a full-head-jump.

I'm all-in with studies nowadays, 15-30-45 second slideshows, subway sketches, bus sketches and whatnot. So really no cool stuff.
    Cheers!

-Many thanks to Bhanu for the constant support and love. Bastard always managed to pull me out of the shithole-

    ahhh yeah! pencils! watch out!

I really like the phonograph bells incorporated into the trumpet player design, and who is that incredibly good looking guy with the black hat??? Good on you my friend for pushing yourself relentlessly despite the challenging circumstances – promise me not to beat yourself up too terribly much when you get frustrated, okay?

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies, they are helping a lot so please keep them coming.
Things have started to look a little better these days, I've managed to release some of the unwanted pressure and just do what i love. It hasn't been easy but I've learned that not thinking helps more than doing that.

Genius_Malignus - Thanks man, I keep wondering whether or not to post my graphic work, because i feel it doesn't fit the forums properly. That's what i do on a daily basis at work but it doesn't cope with CA.org i guess.

Rushlord - Hey man, glad to see you again. Thanks for dropping by and yeah..I managed to survive, hehe.

Bhanu - Thanks brother, I'm starting to lose all that stiffness again [or at least it feels like it]. I'm still somehow feeling that nasty pain we were talking about but it's a lot better and I'm slowly walking away from it. Thanks for being around.

artozi - Thanks mate. It may sound weird but heads were what i did best back in the past, and I kind of got caught up in the idea that I'm good at it. Some time ago, I tried to do some portraits and whatnot and found that I had lost it all, man. It is very very true what they say - the mind is a muscle, not using it causes it to shrink and become unreliable. I'm drawing heads every day again and I'm only just recovering really.

My57 - Long time no see, mate. Thanks for dropping by. I've seen some really nice action in your sketchbook lately, I'll drop by soon to write a bit.

emma - Thanks girl, you guys have made a huge difference in my recovery and I'm really thankful for that matter. It was great talking again and no worries, you'll see more pencils soon enough.

    Metal_Fingers - Thanks again mate.

Sickbrush - You suck man, go draw some more.

    GriNGo - Thanks mate.

phizpietl - Thanks Phil, I'm trying to experiment with all sorts of ideas and stuff. I'm sure in 100 years they will all pay off. (I plan on living way longer)

The Flying Dutchman - Thank you, they're not actually ink, i had some blue leads for my mechanical pencil and figured i should wear them out.

Dy.laneA - Thanks a lot mate, I am trying to do that..Sometimes it works, other times..not that much but all in all it's not so dark anymore. Thanks again, hope I'll be seeing you around more.

    r y a n o i r - Thank you! Working on it!

I'm gonna post two little paintings i did recently, one is just experimenting with ArtRage, really cool and cute software. Perfect to get some pressure off.

The second one is the first one of a series. I'm working on a project for a future album based on traditional beliefs and local mythology. All the artworks will depict some of the fantastic creatures and spirits of the Eastern Europe area. It's a really fun project and working on it feels really nice so I'm hoping it will be the butt kick I needed to get myself moving.

This one is about "Muma Padurii" which could be translated as "The forest's mother". She's an evil forest spirit that is said to sometimes scream at the moon and tempt naive people in the forest. It was said that she would ask you for a comb to comb her hair and you were never supposed to say more than 3 words to her. If you said 4 or more words, she would take away your voice.

This variant was rejected because the forest looks too happy and she looks too pitiful so I'll work on a darker and scarier version too.

Cheers guys! [will come back with some moleskine scans soon!]

New picture looks good. But a few crits that i hope help you out. (applies to some other paintings youve done as well)
Your composition is a little plain, your pretty much just working with verticals. Your also leaving your compositions a bit sparse. Adding some stuff in the foreground like stringy bushes and stuff will help fill it out a little and maybe change the direction of the composition a bit more. Think about all the little things that would be in the pictures. Holes in the trees, little rocks on the ground, different patches of grass/mud on the ground.

Painting wise, try and use some bigger brushes for more of the time. The best piece of advice i got from someone on here at CA was always use the biggest brush you can for what your painting. So i go down to small stuff when u need to Your main tree looks good because it has a good shape and volume to it, because of its better brush marks.

Hope you get something from this
    Keep it up dude!

Hey man really nice sketchbook here. About that last painting, you want to make sure it's not too dark, and add some more areas of a lighter value. Everything starts to get lost when it's all lit by a rim light. Try to think of values with respect to your image composition, so that they compliment your focal point with the highest contrast. Keep going dude!!
