I have a sloppy approach to each piece, and I seem to copy several other artists... but here's a general look at how I approached this creature. I hope you enjoy, and please send questions so I can better explain things

Here are some brushes that I used. I made a few and downloaded a few, but adding textures on top of simple brushes really gives you a wide range of options.

I honestly did not have any idea in mind when Fozzy asked if I'd like to make a tutorial. I knew I wanted something simple, lazy-looking and a twist on the subject. So I started thinking about different ways "people" hug things.... and I remembered hugging my pillow at night and how relaxing it was. This gave me the idea of a large creature that would hug some soft-looking leaves like a pillow.

Finally! Another tutorial for my mind to sponge up. Anyway, your approach is similar to mine in the way you block things up and slowly add in brighter and richer colors. You used more custom brushes, though, and your results are better.
