great work man, good job keepin busy. your imagination is really shining through. your vehicles are looking really well thought out, try applying that to you figures and creatures. i think taking some time and slowing down some of your sketches you could have some very nice pieces here. keep er up man.

Thanks for the kind words. I think the next step would be focusing more on developing my painting skills because they're not so developed as my drawings. Do you have a sketchbook?

    TOOLED!
Thanks man I'm trying to slow down on my characters lately so let's see what I can come up with.

Some shoulder studies and a sketch to practice what I've learned. The shoulder and neck area still give me a lot of trouble. I'll have to work harder on that.

on serious note, i think you would benefit a ton from doing some life studies or maybe just some referenced photo studies, as i find you need a good balance of life / construction imaginative stuff to start kicking ass and so far your lacking in the second department just a suggestion as usual keep kicking ass dude, later.

Thanks mate. I used to work with orange and blue back at industrial design. Maybe it's time to start doing that again in those anatomy studies.

Thanks for the tip. Your right about the life studying aspect I'm feeling guilty for it. The thing is that I went back to study the muscles and overall structure of the body in greater detail so I can understand the model better when I draw from life/reference. I'm planning to do some master studies maybe starting simple by copying some Loomis heads and work my way up from there.

I was going trough my old sketchbook and I decided to put more work in this study. It's damn hard to keep the tones constant.

Thanks Untouched24. I'll have a look at your stuff soon.

Some studies to practice using straight lines to start with. It's really fun. Now I have to practice more with my values. Comments are welcome.

Real life stuff has been cutting into may valuable sketchbook browsing time.

You sir are like me, a draftsman at heart. I think in terms of lines instead of color/values. I have a difficult time painting as well because it is the exact opposite of what I usually do.

I don't have a sketchbook because I don't have a scanner, I'm not very good with digital art, and i'm terribly intimidated. :/

The side profile is very nice, as is the nude. As you have already pointed out yourself, I would like to see some deepening of the values maybe. I think they could both benefit from some heaver shadows.

Do you go to school for art or is it a hobby of yours? I'm always interested to hear about people get started.

    Talk to you later!

Thanks for dropping in again! I had two years of technical drawing when I was studying industrial design. In the figure drawing and painting area I'm completely self taught. Don't be intimidated friend just post your stuff. You're holding yourself back right now by not sharing your work and get feedback from all the great artist around here. Take pictures of your drawings and start a sketchbook. I'm looking forward to it!!

Alright. I may just do that. I'll try to take a decent picture of some of them and maybe email some to you. No time like the present!

great job on the model study from a photograph?, it looks like you didn't spend much time sorting out the values but i state a it any way some forms are reading a little too strong for example the pubic fat looks really blown up because your values are so extreme there otherwise great block in mate i want to see more of those studies.

Yeah man it was a model study from a photo. You're right I didn't spend much time on it I'm just trying to get more comfortable with that blocking in using straight lines stuff since it's different from how I normally start a drawing. I will definitely do more of those studies.

Nice pencil work, I do mostly pencil as well, you might want to work on having your rendering blend from lights to darks try to avoid having an obvious line were the shading stops. On the last one her lips curve down when they should curve up, Im not saying its an impossible face just that it looks unnatural, but nice work keep it up and stop by sometime

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook the other day. Nice work here, I like the improvement throughout. May I ask what kind of pencil you are using in your last few studies? I like the combination of blacks and grays, and you seem to have very fine lines in the shading.
Got a couple minutes? Help me improve!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I will drop by in your sketchbooks and answer your questions soon. It has been a long time since I updated. There were some personal stuff going on this last months that kept me really busy, but that doesn't mean I haven't been drawing. I'm too lazy to scan right now so let's start with some older stuff that I didn't show yet.
First images are from a concept art seminar at the beginning of this year. The final assignment was to create a character or scene based on the theme "political refugee". After coming up with a short story for what we were creating we made A LOT of thumbnails. The ones posted here were done digitally on the last day before moving to the final sketch. I didn't manage to finish the final concept, but I sure did learn a lot.
Last two are illustrations I did for the oz collectible card game from Orionsbell last year. Lots of things I would do completely different right now, but you have to start somewhere right? More info about the game can be found here:
    http://www.orionsbell.com
Now crit the hell out of my work. I will be posting more stuff soon.

Some studies trying to think in terms of values instead of lines. Some are just quick warm ups and others I spent more time on like the Sargent study.
