Hello all, welcome to my sketchbook/dumping thread!

I have no formal training, don't think I'll be getting it anytime soon. I don't know any artists outside of the ones I know from the internet

I watched like 4 seasons of The shield at my parent's home in like 1 month :p

Wish I knew how to make sketches look finished and presentable, maybe I should add borders and textures? I suk at design

Wow, been here for 4 years and this is a 1st sketchbook thread? Looks really good! For the nude image pic, the left arm just doesn't look convincing and just looks short. In the buttocks area, the shading is more like the cartoonish kind. You're supposed to keep the shades smooth, not strong. For the bird lady, her waist and stomach area are connected in a strange fashion. It's kinda as if you gave her "too much back". For the 3rd image, I like the different facial features of each person. Though the first dude's head looks like it's connected in a strange way. Other than that, good sketches.

wow someone replied! Thanks for the crits, they are so comprehensive! Yeah I never posted much because I felt too intimidated..but I've gotten over that now. I can't improve unless I put myself out there.

I don't really understand some of your crits, like the one about bird woman's waist and stomach area.

On the naked image, I guess what you mean by cartoonish is a sharp edge? and I should have given a more smooth transition between the tones in the butt area.

I meant that her waist area starts widening out too soon when it should be lower, then it starts expanding (left and right). Maybe it's just me, but either that or her legs being too thin for the buttocks creates the illusion. I could be me being vague again. Sorry.

Yeah. The transition from the dark to light is sharp.

really creative stuff here, post some more idesa of your own, also do more life studies and figure drawings. Also work on anatomy, its the best thing for any artist who just started a new sketchbook, it helps with the imagination. Keep posting.

I liked this in my head but on paper it doesn't deliver. I have problems with anatomy I think; they don't feel life like. Anyone can offer any help?

This is a couple of months old. She looks fucked up, but I'm not really sure how. Maybe the proportions are not right?

Came by to say thanks for stopping by the sketchbook, Im' enjoying these latest posts. The chick with the gun is cool but the anatomy is off, its like you cut her in two and fused her top half sideways to the bottom half. The portrait looks great, but I would have to see the actual photo to see any mistakes. Doing good, keep posting.

For the chick with the gun yeah I know how you feel, a lot of my ideas don't translate well to paper. ;P I think her body's just twisted way too much, if you turn her hips and legs toward her front a little more (toward us, essentially) she may be a bit more believable. Other than that it's an awesome concept.
