    Hard Soap Scum Studies Etc...

    Hi All.

I have been doing a lot of studies for the past few months and would love to hear your thoughts. I generally give myself 1-6 hours...6 being the max. A lot of these studies were done in painter to familiarize myself with the program.

    Here are some for review.

Look forward to your thoughts, comments, crits.

    thanks!

as an FYI: the studies/exercises (aside from the last 3 which are my original ideas) were taken from underworld and gladiator and in no way are my arrangements, lighting etc.... these are just visual exercises for me. i just wanted ppl to know so they know the source of the exercises. thanks guys!

cool sketchbook so far, I like the first concept on post 3.
using movie frames sounds like a good idea, so long as the quality
    of the frame is high.

Hey there - I love the sketch from "Elizabeth". Great job implying dark/reflective water with just a few strokes. You've been busy, and the stuff looks great!

Apart from the nice movie capture studies, you have some great character designs as well. Confident and solid form. I really like the mech designs and the tree house pencils in post #7. NICE stuff.

i really enjoy a lot of the sketches and studies you have. although, one thing that i think you can work on more is the range of value in your paintings. personally, i think they need to be a bit darker. maybe just more contrast would help to really pop the figures. try to be aware of the aerial perspective and see if you can do a couple studies incorporating some soft edged figures and hard edged figures to explore how can manipulate the focal point.

    good stuff though.

    Hi Hardsoapscum,

Have to say the coloring and modeling on this is gorgeous.

What a cool way to practice your digipaints.

As I mentioned B4, your character designs are so good. A lot of great design details. This last set is no exception. Great imagination and excellent figure study.
Interesting and wise advice from some12kill. something I must keep in mind, myself.

    Keep on creating!
