I tried to pull off a traditional looking painting in photoshop and gave up. I have no clue how to work the ps brush engine. I switched over to painter. She turned out a little cross eyed:Updates

Don't have much to say here. Her skin seems to be lacking in... something. keep in mind that skin isn't made up of lighter and darker versions of the same colour, skin has many colours... red, brown, blue, etc. And be be a bit nitpicky - her forehead seems a little big. that's about it. great painting btw![]()
As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.

thi is ver nice and smooth. 2 crits
first one is that the hair looks too clumpy, i think you need more individual hairs.
the other thing, just more contrast on the skintones. more darker colors and lighter spots. other than that, this is a very nice one

Thanks for the spot on crits bunny and sick. I will try do some work on it tonight.

Tried those changes. Thanx for the suggestions.
Her back is a little fuzzy, and the stripes are going in a different direction than in her front. Things are a little smudgy at her pants rim as well. Good progress!
Use a smaller brush to detail the other parts of the painting to match the rendering in her face. As is the paint ing looks somewhat off balanced because of that.
Thanx slg and bluemech. I will add some more detail.
Slg I used the acrylics captured bristle brush on the whole thing. Is that bad?
Do you guys know of any free toots for painter9?
Looking good. The hair maybe needs a bit more detail. Good turtorial over at..
http://www.furiae.com/index.php?view=gallery. If you want to put some colour in her face use a overlay layer or softlight and paint bright yellow top red middle and blue lower face lower the opacity of the layer so you can only see a hint of the colour easy way to bring some variety into the pic.
Color theory can realy improve the look/quality of a piece. After you finish rendering her, color correct it in photoshop.
1. because its easier
2. you can use blending/ layer styles.
When doing so think of a mood/emotion that you want to capture...
Then simply choose a color scheeme that fits.
It also helps, after everything is done, to adjust the levels.
This will bring unity to the piece.
