    SCool project (almost done)

The description for the assignment was to "show the roots of my intrerest in nature" or something similarly vague. What I'm doing is three paintings, all divided in this manner, the golden ratio, to show my interest in the scientifical. The different paintings show different aspects of this. This first one is based on the golden number, phi. The head in profile of humans show evidence of this proportion, as does the DNA-molecule, different animals and plants.

I tried upping the contrast on the head, and ended up almost ruining it. As I'm doing it in watercolour, I'm really afraid of doing mistakes and not having any undo-button! Tell my what you think of this!

The person's forehead is arched back too heavily. The head minus the jaw is more elipse than circular. The positioning of the nose is too high and needs to be slightly lowered and larger. The ears are too low. Notice how the top of the ear is supposed to be aligned with the top of the eye, and the bottom part is aligned with the bottom of the nose or goes slightly below. And there needs to be shading in the head area under the phi symbol because it just seems too brightish peach and a bit flat.

    Keep working on it!

Yeah you're right, I noticed too late that the nose is too small, and the other stuff you mentioned is right too. However as this is watercolour, not being easy to change, and I already tried adjusting the contrast and ended up almost ruining the whole piece, I think I'll let it rest and be a remember-and-learn-from piece instead. I don't want to make it worse. I'll update with the other pieces I'll make and this one when it's completely finished soon!
