You have made some serious progress since your first post! These sort of threads give me great motivation about starting out with my modest skills. I really like your digital painting of the man with the gun using just the colours red, white and black for dramatic effect..
nice dump. 8D
oh man, so productive.

Some more old work for uni that I took photos of today, A2 size:
My idol Bruce Lee, we had to do stippling for this assignment. Lets just say I think you would be either mad or have the patience of a saint if you enjoy this method of drawing(I call it the human ink jet printer method)
Done with a combination of 0.1 and 0.05 sized nib inking pens, yes that arm pit shadow area is dots...only thing i didn't dot were the hair, I wasn't gonna be that stupid:
The face is actually kinda off (too long, but just wanted to give a close up to show the dots haha)
Still life: (pretty bad value and edgework handling in this one...)
quick oC session last night with a friend, I did the 3 lesser anime looking gals...I know it sucks but this ain't a thread for bragging, putting this here to remind myself I need to do more anatomy studies along with colour studies too.
The inkjet style Bruce Lee work must have been labour intensive!Still you nail the tonal value quite accurate.
I ran through your sketchbook and simply wow by your sheer amount of practice... Also your animatic is quite good to me (only did animatic once for my final semester at college, should upload it at Youtube when I can find the video).
Keep it up!
Beautiful works man, especially on the figure paintings you've got. It's good to see some new work from you. It's also interesting hearing your experience of the animation department of your school. I've seen actually a lot of variety in animation styles (but still a lot of anime) at my school. Thanks for posting!
Some great progress going on man especially with those pencil sketches. What life drawing session was that large lady from? Uni? or did you find some new classes somewhere in Auckland?
Another sketch meet must be about due soon eh? i'll be keen for whenever.
~Jase
PS. I'm a bruce lee fan as well, try drawing this image. http://data.tumblr.com/koBJdk6EObqyp7euZ93MQ2Vj_500.jpg

Gonna try get back into the habit of daily updates, will scan some studies tomorrow.
For now...something different:
Some photos I took of a friend's gig, I'm a total noob at photography so any crits would be appreciated (its my first time shooting under low lighting too so yeah...any advice on that?)
Getting back in to daily updates, realised how terrible my anatomy is when drawing from imagination...so I'm catching up on some good'o figure studies again:
studies in pen...which I'm also terrible at *sigh* (these are mostly from photos, some from pro peeps here and there, sorry for ruining your work)
Enviro study:
OC session with Mc2mc2, doodling for our team chow...might go for a pirate theme, I'm on the right:
i am glad you back to dailys mate.Keep up and you will learn what you miss really fast. These are already becoming great.Great work in the enviroment
see ya![]()

Hey ya man,
umm firstly that injet thing you did is called stippling. It was a way of doing illustration in the fifties and stuff.
Your linework has improved by miles, and so has the lineflow. and your form work is getting tighter too. ACtually what has really changed is that, there is much less guesswork with forms and lines. You seem to know better what you want from a painting/drawing and you are able to exact that too.
So thumbs up man. You have all the qualities of a rockstar.
NOW MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Some cool stuff here. I work around animators all day long, but really can't comment on it. I just know a lot of animators are awsome illustrators too, so keep at it all!
I really love your painted work. (something I never have the patience to do) The chinese girl sitting in the circular window is very cool.
Will keep checking in! Great stuff.
oh holy massive dump since last I visited, and awesome it is as well - the stippled bruce, the shoes, the studies - I'm in awe of your work rate
All in all very impressive![]()

kingkostas: thanks for the support man!
bhanu: yeah I know its called stippling, I just like to call it the "human inkjet method" haha. Also, we all know you're the real rockstar around here :p thanks for the kind words, I can learn a lot from your figure and line work!
Huey Yeng: I used my dad's Nikon D300, the photos are shot with 50mm and 18-200mm, mostly the 50mm prime as it was so dark.
purb36: cheers man, thanks for dropping by
Artguy: Thanks dude, I'll work harder!
dan liimatta: haha your work rate kicks my ass, dont be so modest :p

Urgh was gonna update this earlier...so much for daily
not much new stuff, just more ink figure studies...most of these are pretty bad but I can feel myself getting better, struggling to find that sweet spot where I'm not too rigid and stiff with focusing and not too idle and prone to mistakes when being loose
beautiful.very nice motion in a lot of them.Only some of them seem kind of stiff but i see the bigger amount is very nice worked mate.Keep up the good work![]()
CheckBiomechawolf
Lovely pen stuff, man. Looks pretty confident! Keep it up!
you should change your status to ex-noob promoted to uber-badass
kingkostas: thanks man, you're right...I find I cant seem to keep the gestural quality the figures consistent, gotta keep doing more i guess
sketcheth: you too man! we gotta catch up some time!
Snow Lion:hehe thanks for the kind words...don't think I deserve that title yet haha

So yeah...I skipped a day of updates again
I'll scan some figures later but here's some digi stuff
An unfinished study...getting kinda bored
I tried to do a portrait from imagination tonight...and I painted this guy with a beard then whole time...and then I decided to get rid of the beard...only then did I realise that the facial features looks a lot like mine...its like I just ended up doing a self portrait -__-
PS: Just realised the nose looks wonky *sigh*
That's right, actually daily updates for real this time
its just more figure studies tho sorry...hope everyone doesn't mind naked girls
I need to learn when to just "stop", tried to over render stuff in the middle guy before i realised it was just not working
AWESOME SB paperX!!!!! You've made amazing progress since page 1. I love your female portraits in post # 569. Keep up the excellent work my friend!!
The lines on your recent figure studies are looking good and seem to be drawn with confidence . You are progressing at a decent rate my friend, are you in college studying an art related degree?
Damn, for a noob photographer your photos turned out pretty awesome. I'm lovin the black and white stuff. Figure studies are real nice too.
love the lines in these last studies![]()
& meh, I don't work that much ~ lazy bastard am what I am, but yes in periods I do get a spark.
