Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!!

mc2mc2: yeah I think I'm gonna give up on that painting haha
sketcheth: here's some stuff...not as much as I promised to update sorry
Max Challie: sorry this update turned out to be much later than i said
a la bapsi: Thom Yorke's the lead singer of Radiohead, that song is from his only single album called The Eraser...I would say check out both the Eraser and Radiohead albums (they're all pretty different in style though Ok Computer and Kid A are probably my favourites)
A tua mãe: haha sadly it's not really the case...I got a lot more studying to do
    DStraX: thanks for the comment

Smallish update again sorry...my scanner isn't working so I promise I'll post some pencil stuff later (I'm getting sorta slack these days

Another attempt with the brush (I don't like this one as much though)

did a study from a photo...you can tell I have NO set rendering method lol...its all over the place....I worked on this on and off for the past few days while doing new year stuff with family and each time I open up photoshop to work on it I paint a different way haha....it's such a mess.

I like the colours in the girl piece.
I think what would make it a stronger picture would be to refine the rendering on the girl, or just her face, so it's a nice contrast against the scratchy background.

Hahaha...you say you've got some different rendering styles in there...I would say that's definitely true, but still, it looks good the parts separate...as HunterKiller said, the face could use some polishing...that would just help draw in some focus with the image...besides, that's what we want to look at. You're asking for crits on color though? Sorry man...it looks good...and I'm no expert. I was going to say maybe look to make sure that you have your secondary light sources in there...reflected light and what not. But then again, I can't see the reference, so they might be nonexistent! Looks good all the same man. I can't wait to see more.

    hi

the study from photo is somewhat unique, it's like a way of painting or colors.
or perhaps because it'a "mess" you painted in many session. It looks like you're developping a style. give it a try

Dude, this stuff looks great! I really like those digital figure studies...nice values...just beautiful. I'm really loving that sketch of Alice and the Cheshire cat...I'm really glad to see these more regular updates!
The SP is really nice as well, I love the saturated colors you've been using lately. It'd be really neat to see if you can push yourself to the opposite extreme and do a self portrait that really favors realism and careful blending in skin tones and stuff. Really be sporadic with the styles, it'll loosen you up!
Keep at it, I can't wait for the next post! Can't wait!

It's great to see you working again! I love how experimental your self portraits are and how un-experimental mine are. Really, man...keep this going, it looks great so far. I like those colors quite a bit actually, especially the warm/cool shadows...pretty stuff. Keep it up!

    Nice life drawing, really. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1233234596
I think her butt would be a lot bigger especially from foreshortening, and maybe her head a little big? But excellent rendering my friend, you followed the basic form of the torso really nice and your eyes just glide over it, its a wonderful viewing experience.

    Nice colours, again, really. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...8&d=1233326035
Definitely looks as though you are approaching this in a good way, the painters, way. Much more advanced than anything i've ever done. Delicious work my friend!

Your art is looking great man. Love your pencils, and your portraits show great character with those brush-strokes. Keep em coming.
Work hard, anything is possible. I know, I know, it’s a very cheesy response but it’s true. Hard work and dedication is the key to reach your dreams. -Bjørn Hurri

hunchbackmagee: thanks for the crit! I have a short attention span so when I don't like something I'm working on I tend to scrap it pretty quick heh...
Kronos: thanks man...I don't think I deserve that much praise haha...will keep updating though, DAILY!
sketcheth: no way man, YOUR sketchbook was the reason for me to get my lazy ass to keep updating, thanks for the constant inspiration
