Dude! Page 9!? You just keep on posting, don'tcha? crazy. I'm liking your oc with Kronos! We should try to have an oc with all three of us, that'd be sweet. We'll have to get lucky with aligning hte time zones and stuff, though, haha.
I really like your women in these last two, they're looking great, really elegant features and everythign, keep up the good work! Your anatomy is looking real strong too. Keep drawing, I can't think of any real critiques right now.

    Hey man!

Hey man, great stuff you got here (what I saw of it, saw the first two pages and the last 2 haha). You have pretty much the number one attribute of becoming awesome: doing a shitload of drawing.

Nice meeting you at animfxnz, and to those reading – yes he did indeed get to talk with Jason. An inspiring couple of days. Jason's talk was great, one of the best at the symposium, but I'll let the thread owner go into more detail!

Kronos: thanks man...im sorry my tale wasn't awesome as u were hoping for
DanielC: thanks bro! i gotta check out your sb soon, can only handle so much awesome-ness at once lol, if i miss too many updates they're gonna blow my mind in one go
sketcheth: thanks man, im addicted to oC recently haha
JayWright: Hey man!!! it was really great meeting you at the conference ! i saw that you signed up to CGNZ too, awesome show me some of your work sometime man!

Well....yeah i did manage to go to this and meet Jason...but i think i sorta left a bad impression on him damn me and my bad nerves....*sigh*

The keynotes were really really inspirational though, especially from Tim Johnson of Dreamworks, Dan Curry of Star Trek, Matt Aitken of Weta, Warren Franklin of Rainmaker and of course Mr. Jason Manley and many more.

I'll see if the symposium organisers are gonna update their website with the notes from the talks that they took, if they don't I might do like a big jot down of all the notes i took and post it on CA so everyone can learn from these great inspirational people.

Btw...thanks Jess/Yumiko for being so nice

Here's a photo of me and Jason, I guess it explains what I meant lol... this is probably the worst photo I could use to show u guys, but its the only one i got haha

another oC with Kronos this time we just decided to do a collab of basically a big blob monster of faces and whatever else came to mind...i had soooo much fun on this one, and had the chance to draw some stuff that i would normally not get the chance to (drawing a face upside down is frikin hard )

It's scary that I haven't posted in your SB either.

Good progress for sure, you've racked up a considerable amount of pages already, that's great.
I like the latest b&w thumbnails, whatever they, they're good looking designs.

lol @ your location. NZ/China, lol.

AAAH ^^ I totally understand the fanboy thing, and you probably didn't behave as weirdly as you think you did .
Now about the sketchbook ^^ You're doing awesome! Yeah..
I'm liking the thumbnails a lot, might be nice to do an entire screen full of 'em, pick out the best 3 and give them a more finished look.
Also the face blob thing you did with Kronos is AWESOME ^^ hehe gotta love OC'ing with Kronos..

Well, keep doing what you do.
    Love

urgh...i just realised i haven't updated for over a month...and also...i've passed the 1 year anniversary of this sketchbook!! ah well looking back to the first page, i think i've definitely made a lot of improvements... and i couldn't have done it without everyone's support and help so...

.....a big THANK YOU to everyone!!!

i don't really have an awesome update planned though as i totally forgot about the 1 year anniversary of this sketchbook...plus i got a summer job to try and save up for uni next year which is why i haven't been drawing as much as i should have....

but oh well, excuses aside...here's some art!

oooh, someone jumped into the improvement plane, eh? Your digis are getting really really good, and your pencils are hard on there heals. Linework on here is definitely also looking up, like what's happening with those inks. If I had to crit something here, I'd say you might want to clean up your shading. Your values are looking good so far - throw some more variation into local tones - but I think if you clean up your shading it'll distract less and your drawings will look better.

Real good stuff, keep going dude!
    cheers!

i agree with the above post that you should tighten/clean up some of your shading. I also think you should watch out for little proportion and anatomy mistakes like heads that are too big or arms that are too long. keep up the good work and thanks for posting in my book.

    Awesome update again man
makes me feel like drawing ^^

I guess I'm half repeating Brendan N with this but to add something half constructive I'll say it anyways
I think that if you look at the forms a little more in 3d (you know, planes and all that), you can fill in the larger areas with the value that belongs there, and then you can get into the details within these values. I think that will make the shapes feel less flat, and it'll clean up the shading thing.

Anyways.. Awesome That sketchymeet must've been nice huh?
I wonder why you got a summer job though.. As we're in the middle of the winter But anyways, I know how these jobs can eat up your time, so just try to put in one hour a day at least and keep being productive ^^

Love, and a merry christmas indeed, although it's almost over again.
    Marleen

    paperx!

    hi

Yes you certainly do look like a fan boy in #244, don't worry, when I meet other artists like that I transform to total fangirl too, it's all good

Careful with your tones!! I'm looking and I see grey, or white and then grey

I didn't look through the whole sb... and I might be putting my foot in my mouth with I suggest this, but, I'd like to see a life drawing, or something, that you spent like a retarded amount of hours on, noticing highlights, darks, midtones and every tone in between, reflecting light, etc

Well you don't have to show it but you might be like oooohhhh ok.. even in some sketches where you're spending time shading, think of reflected light from a light source, doesn't have to be dramatic! ha or with simple line drawings, maybe think of line weight instead to suggest light and dark as exercise (dark lines suggesting dark side, light on light source side etc)

either way, nice work and concepts!

Nice stuff mate, seeing lots of good things going on!

Agree with Naomi, watch your tones and I would really like to see one or two recent drawings from life.

Happy New Year mate, hope you have a great one!
