HOLY SHIITE MUSLIMS BATMAN!
duuuuuuuuuude.... 1.) thanks for supportin and dropping by the oldé blood wearied skrawl tome.
2.) Wow man...seems like you are really breaking down some creative bariers, f***ing em up bad! That's something that i've started to really work on. a lot of times when i have project bitch i'll get started and will find some kind of stumbling block and production work will slow down. I'm learning that overcoming this stumbling moment of unsurety is a crucial moment in any creative endeavor and can even be a make or break for one's career even. Sounds like hogwash, but ... I can see from your book here that you are really good at doing that ... the ideas are flowing, straight from the brain like a big-dopamine-soaked-spinal-fluid-douch-o-matic. and i mean that in the best way. It's inspiring and for that i thank you. makes me wanna DRAW LIKE HELL!
3.) It seems like you are taking your cues from more objective life-drawing style portrayals of things. IMO like you get started on some super accurate rendering, then start melting that puppy down to get to the essence. I'm a fan of this approach, but ... think maybe you should push yourself just a little bit farther. It's hard to say exactly with the digital game, but i know with pencils and trad. media for sketchbooks getting loose first really helps out. CATL sketch group is doing this big collaborative project where we each make up our own alien world and explore whatever the hell about it we want to. I'm a little ways into this project and accessing for the first time this weird sense of pure creativity... having to make something up completely from scratch with design elements, type, creaures, alien races, landscapes, etc, ... has been immensely, immensely rewarding. even when doing more painterly objective portrayals, having gotten this project well underway i'm really enjoying the creative plus mark-making freedom that it has yielded. makes designing even boring charts at work more fun, believe it or not...
maybe i'm rambling, heh. Do you have a sketchgroup to inspire and be inspired by? Wow that has been SOOOO helpful for me. Guggenthe CATL...
thanks again bro... consider guggenSURBSCRIBBLEDmaneuver!

Wow, you are doing some massive work in this Thread.
Fantastic.
Feck thats a lot of anatomy study in one go! I havent seen that many figures from you yet, so this is definately a good way forward. Life drawing is a good way to check up on what youve learnt from these studies. You should give it a go, bro!

re 1. of course, why miss out on the creative juices?
re 2. I do try, and I do work on getting various process going - so yeah, thanks for noticing my playful attempts.
re 3. I think I answered this before, but to exapand on it more, yeah I agree; and since then I've used less reference, and taken a stab at more imaginary colours and forms - I'm hardly there yet, but I'm working on it. Anyway thanks for the tip, I was rushing around like a crazy person and sometimes I loosetrack of what I've done and need to do.
Camara - Thanks!
Bojee - Thanks!
Tad true, I far to long lingered in the land of the content with my doodling - no more! anyway thanks
oma - Thanks!
Rebeccak - Big thanks for stepping by, love your work
Bendragon rawr - indeed it is, and yes it have helped that I did these last weekend - not only does my lines feel better, each organism feels somewhat more alive.
kawakaze yeah, life is a bitch sometimes - been busy all week, anyway thanks!
mrgrumbleI got back some of my spare doodling time after a tuff real life experience this weak - so I can only agree

JAIR428 I did study some of the works of Ashley Wood yes, and I love em. Currently I've changed my master to someone else, but oh well, I'll probably return to MGS, popbot and robots vs zombies sooner or later - & Thanks!
paperX Well I feel the same when reading other threads on CA, you always level up as you work, but you never really reach the dream - for there is always, always one more step to take. Anyway thanks
johnny78 I really prefer to do fast sketches in digital form nowdays - I even print fast thumbs digital thumbs to paper if I'm doing a pencil sketch. Mostly due to all the random brushes, and the variation they bring with only 1 or two strokes. Love your pencils though, and mine sucks in comparison so no wonder I'm keeping it binary - & Thanks.
Mitzerawr - yeah I like that in my process as well, if only my skills with anatomy, light and colour would improve some more
A dirty, fat old woman, in a window, throwing buckets of shit - for Mystery of Albesila
Fast sketches I sent to friend - as I was writing him.
Some loose off the head landscapes, and some other crap
I jumped on the civil war tread some days ago.
My cousin wanted to see how I draw, so he asked for a many headed, many eyed t-rex to sit in a scene from a comic in Heavy metal - the girl and the man are referenced, & not copied, though the girl got too similar. Might redraw her somewhat, especially if I want this in my portfolio cleaned up.
Lasso tool creations - this weeks tool of choice (really need to learn how to use it properly)
DSG: 1200
DSG: 1201
The first lasso tool experiment sucked, so I made the 2nd - these are fast creations, relatively speaking to the time I usually spend on a sketch - not happy with the meta in the 2nd, it pretty much is non-existent; but for the 30 minutes taken, it's ok.
Some random studies.
more Bridgman studies.
Needed some skull training, so did these during a slow day.

Nice book man, like the energy in your works. Just watch the accuracy - some things seem unusually distorted.
Some real good colouring in some of these as well.
keep it up, and have 5

Feaking awesome update. Love your experiments with colour and the landscape thumbs.
Massive improvements all round. Well done mate, i'm really looking forward to seeing what your going to come up with next!
These are fantastic.
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...9&d=1172238286 reminds me of the Andrew Jones work on the new Painter cover.
the civil war studies look more amateurish than your other stuff here, in particular the middle left panel. but the top right panel is diesel
old hag in the window is a nice one, but it took me a long time to realize that her hair and the curtain flowing out were seperate objects. also the shadows and skin tones on her are very um.. splotchy and flaky, and I understand this is maybe to convey her old ladyness, but it doesn't look very realistic. i think the shadow forms should have been blocked in first to show the shapes of the figure and then any blotchiness of the skin would come after, more as changes in skin color than showing the form of the figure. right now it looks like the two are mixed, ie- changes in skin color (which don't have any effect on the form) could be mistaken for shadow shapes.
you are insane, though, and the amount of work is really inspiring.
Boneyard Bump! Very interesting studies! Bulk load your subconscious and let it flow.
sweeet stuff...I can't stop looking it...please, keep it up!
This sb isn't looking great... it's looking AWESOME !
hehe keep pushing yourself man, you'll go very very far !
I swear you must have some sort of time vortex you control in order to get all this stuff done!love the variety, and of course the civil war studies as you could imagine
oh, and now i gotta try that lasso tool more often!
cheers!
timmy
Sweet stuff man, that was a damn huge update D: Really liked all that custom brush stuff you did, especially the B&W pieces, the civil war set was great too. Good variety man. It was fun to look through all the work.
TUNAFISH SAMMICHES?!
duuuuuuude, i dont know how you do it but thats a really large amount of high quality work!!!! the lasso tool pieces look INCREDIBLE! call me a noob but i've never thought of using the lasso tool to do art...how do you go about something like that?![]()
Brendan N
It's one of the reasons I'm not content with the fast stuff, and have moved my focus to more polish and shading - so yeah, it's a known problem that I'm currently wrestle with. & Thanks
mull77
Thanks, I've been feeling the evolution work the last few weeks, and it puts a smile on my face when ever I look back at where I was this autumn and it warms that I'd slaughter myself from one year ago in a TD. Yet of course I've got plenty of road to travel![]()
& Thanks!
Lohan
hah, yeah sometimes when I play around, especially with colour, the result is something that is pretty poor indeed - but I'll live with it knowing that I've learnt something, that often being what not to do
& to my defence, The old hag was a 1½-2 hour sketch where I spent half the time changing the design, and half just trying to render her out - and some of the weirdness comes from my last resort clean up including the cutout filter
- & thanks
mentler
Thanks for coming around, and though I'm still caged, sometimes I manage to fly, if only for a little bit, and if only within those caged bars; but since my old friends thought me high when I wasn't, I'll probably manage in the end![]()
o.l.d - Thanks!

The same, for rust never sleeps![]()
mrgrumble - Thanks!
& the lasso tool can be pretty damn awesome, play with it!![]()
Sirio_Brozzi - Thanks!
Rawr, brushes are fun, I only wish that more learnt this and expanded their own horizons; and I'm probably pushing speed to far, and should probably try to calm down and polish more, but then it's so fun to do portraits in 5-10 minutes once I've started (in feb).
paperX
You have several options really - draw something with a pen, smear something with a brush, or take a white paper - then draw a form with the lasso tool, and then simply fill it with ctrl+delete or use a gradient/brush. I usually do this in a different layer, and then I'll use that layer as a parent, and add layers over it and simply continue with the lasso tool, or garble some stuff in. If you use the ctrl+delete with the first form, you have a really simple composition tool, as you get your simplified composition, and can now work that out before you expand it to a full painting.
This mornings stuff.
