here is my entry to a thunderdome entitled 'Pokemon Redesign'. Umbreon and Espeon rule!
I have done quite a lot of pictures recently so I will post some soon!
pokemon? gotta sketch em all?
I bought some acrylic paints the other day. I haven't had a chance to use them yet but I hope to produce some good work with them.
Ok Ok, here is where I am at right now- christmas holidays start on wednesday, and I have loads of stuff to post, so hopefully I will get it scanned and shrunk over the christmas period. Maybe I'll develop my evil santa like creature concept and post it on the 25th of December (christmas day for those who didn't know!). Maybe. Perhaps. Possibly... I don't know right now, artwork coming soon!

OK here we go (acrylic painting coming soon!)-
The rest were done with a mechanical pencil-
The next one is a drawing of my sister and the last two are copied from photos in the TV book of Billie Piper and David Tennant-

Last pictures looks better and better. But you must study anatomy of people- proportions and skelet. Loomis is good tip.
Maybe is better drawing based on reality to start. If you will draw only from your head, you expand your style and fantasies, but portrayal, processing will be false.
Sorry for my english, in czech republic it is'n most extanded langue :o)
thanks for that, I know what you're saying and I should do more referenced drawing and some more from life. My future career will involve figure drawing so I need to practice as much as possible now. The thing is, I do some reference drawing, then I learn a new skill, so I do loads of drawings from my head incorperating that new skill, then I do some more referenced stuff etc. etc.
I have started doing some referenced drawings from some comics I bought called 'The Walking Dead'. I did one with charcoal pencils and it came out alright, though I do need more practice with this medium. The other I inked and it came out really well although the ink kept drying out on the brush so some bits are more blue than black.
I have started inking another picture from the afore mentioned comics and I drew another picture of my sister. I am trying very hard to only draw from reference and life and not imagination. But the more referenced stuff I do now- the better I will be at unrefereced stuff later on in life.
Please take your time to crit me, thanks all!

wow...dude no offence(u showed some great improvement, cheers), but like many of us(newbs) need to work on a loy of shit, i'd suggest u take some classes. gj anyways!![]()
I'm really glad that your making the effort early on to try and study real life, most new artists don't get the crits and suggestions they NEED in order to improve rapidly and further their own ideas and talents. Saying that a drawing is good only and not suggesting what needs work is the cruelest thing that can be done to people of this type. But u're taking all of it on board and it really makes me happy that u are.
Here's an update!
I have several other pictures to post sometime but this is all I could be bothered to scan for now.

hey
like the new piece, some nice shading especially on the wings
anatomy could probably do with some work, arms are a bit thin
good improvement through the SB
I suggest that you really focus on doing figure studies and drawing actual things from life and just leave the imaginative stuff alone for a while. I would like to see more life stuff posted here. I think that your imaginative stuff is not really that interesting yet. You want a career as an Illustrator or Concept Artist, you should take heed to what you will be up against. There are Pro guys and students that are almost up to pro status that post here. Do those no more imaginative stuff for now. Real people, real objects, real animals. Do Masters Paintings if you like. not from comicbooks. Here is a website that you can go to Artrenewal.org. Look for paintings there and copy some of them and try very hard to be as accurate as you can to those paintings. I think you really need it. YOu will not make it if you cannot draw well, I assure you within the next few months you will start to improve much more than just doing the imaginative stuff. Here is a link to loomis's books if you need them.

Read these books and apply what you learn from them. If your really serious about making this type of work as a career, then you will take these steps. Good luck.XD
If you have problems downloading them, hit me up in the PM and I will help you get them downloaded for you. Others have tried to convince you to go that route. I hope you will listen and do. Post your studies!!! I stress that more than anything. I want to see studies from you. No imaginative stuff, I will treat you as if you are a student. Don't make pull a ruler out and pop you in the hands, jk. Again good luck. I will attempt to come by every so often. XD
Yeah I will certainly try to take into account what you have said. I was wondering, are those wooden manakins any good for studies? Because I have one and have done a few drawings from it.
Also, is the Marko DVD a good idea or is that for later investment?
