very nice ben, they are all so very green, but i like it
and i love how you've got the extreme soft/stylized and extreme realism mixed together. keep it up!
Awesome stuff all round. The clown is great. I really like the way your rendering seems so soft, yet quite sharp too.
let me be the first to say: 5 stars
and keep posting.
Your suffering work was great.

Glad to see you start a sb, hope it's gonna be fed on a regular basis or else some fans like me might get real hungry (once the salina got agitated).
Love first and last one. B-card is a quite original one too.

wow and yay!
Thanks for all the props guys. For those of you who where wondering, most of them are experiments with Painter.
1 and 2 where started in photo shop with a big soft circle brush and then a complex textured photoshop brush to loosely suggest the shapes. Then I go into Painter to polish up a bit. I like how photoshop and Painter compliment each other. It sounds like some of you guys are able to appreciate this too. Yes/No?
Sometimes I think I should just use photoshop because it's easier/ more efficient (and for my professional work on particularly tight deadlines I do try to stick to photoshop); but Painter is a lot more fun and I think it makes things look a little better. Any of you guy feel the same way?
The backgrounds on 3 and the last one are scanned in texture. And the happy B-Day is just pen and marker on a sticky note.

Weee, nice start, love the textures and brush work. Post more, I insist!
Cheers!
I've tried to use painter...but i ALWAYS just end up scribbling around with the brushes making a colourful mess like a 5 year oldOriginally Posted by Ben_Olson
...it's fun but I simply cannot get to grips with it...so I struggle to try and make Photoshop more painterish but I usually fail..and simply plod along
Looking forward to see more in the future Ben
