jake: Thanks bro, no prob! Glad you like the colouring, hold that in high regard coming from you you colourmaster you!

oma: aaaah - that's what you guys mean. I thought you meant the drawings themselves were stiff. Yep the poses are stiff because I constructed them very quickly and didn't pay much attention to them at all. I still need to work in awkwardness in my poses, though stiffness itself is not always bad. I prefer doing some contorted twisted figures to relaxed ones. But yes, I def need to work on that awkwardness. Muchthanks for the props mate!

Helzon: Agreed mate, I think I foremostly need to work on the gestural qualities of my figures. I think I'm too used to drawing contorted twisted figures, should definitely get to some more gestural stuff. Good points, I'll work on the problems. Thanks for encouragement!

rodrigo!: Thanks dood, appreciate those words coming from you. Yeah, I'm a contrast freak, my bg's are way too eyecatching. Thanks for the props mate, glad you like.

Marco: lol, yeah got confused with the "i'm no expert" part haha. Thanks man, appreciate that! Got a nuther one fer ya!

saa: Thanks dude, appreciate the props!

K, just one thing worth posting in terms of art - Luba figure study. Have a whole bunch of toned paper lying round, thought I might start filling it up. Also using Pastel to add in the highlights. Link to original.
Totally flucked up the face I know.

Then I promised sve some photos of my house/home. Sveta, I hope these were sort of what you were looking for! Clockwise from the top: front view of my house; the street I live in (well the better end haha) A shot of our yard, fishpond + patio incl; and our pets! Just shout if these aren't good enough!

    ciao peeps!

great stuff. really like the face studies on post #63. your rendering has gotten a lot better too. the girl on post #91 is good, but seems a bit out of proportion. I think it might just be she gets thinner as you go lower on her body. keep em coming.

Hi, Brendan. Thank you so much for posting those. I just wanted to see South Africa . and I'm kind of amazed because it is almost the same what I see through my window, I think I know what the tree is growing in front of your house, it is mesquite tree with thin feathery like foliage. Cows and buffalo like those trees madly because they give this light gentle shade. And I think I know that huge bush too, it is bridal wreath, spirea. it has this fountain like shape and it can take so much neglect, perfect plant for any garden. It might be some sort of jasmine too.

Well. so strange, I thought it will be something very exotic looking. Looks like Texas a lot.

Great pets, they are so different and if I didn't feel such a shame I would immediately started to read their face expressions, they are so similar to ours. But it is too silly thing to do. Dogs still can't overcome their fear to look straight into human eyes. they have complexes, cats don't.

Thank you again, I did expect to see a monkey sitting on the opposite side of your window and studying your room .

This drawing of the girl is excellent. The most amazing thing for me is how precisely you drew all relationships in the figure between different parts of her body, angles, shapes, negative space, distances are very precise and proportional. that's very exquisite. I rarely see such an accuracy and good measuring by eye. Look how exact the shape between her arms and her waist is, or at which angle her arm goes... interesting.
Well, it is wonderful observation skills. And you are working at your imagination drawing too, that's a lot. Respect.

Her face is not all right, though, looks like you are not confident to draw her face, why is that, I'm wondering. It's in the end the same as drawing your beautiful imaginative profiles.

Her forehead is higher in the photo and overall you did her head too big comparing to the rest of the body. Her eyes are slightly angled to her nose in the photo. that's what makes some woman faces look like cat's, it is the angled eyes ( inner corners of the eyes downwards) and sharply define cheek bones too, of course.
But nevertheless, it is a charming image. I like it a lot and you did a good job adding your own style and charm, it looks and feels different from photo, has the attraction of drawing, in my opinion.

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1164492784 One eye is slightly lower, the one from my right.

Have to agree with someone opinion the drawings from post number 80 look fearfully cautious. Makes me look thoroughly at them trying to understand the reason of your hesitation, lines are very rigid, slow and hesitating. I don't know, I feel cautious too looking at them.

    See you, be well.

    Hey guys!

oma: haha thanks man! If you come to SA, you come at own risk!

    bhanu:

So? hehe. Treating the highlights this way makes the forms flow a bit better. Otherwise for it them to flow right you need to put down a whole lot of chalk. This way I think also makes me think more about how light is hitting the subject and reflecting off, and I'm no longer just copying. I'll try to work something out in order to make it look less oily, like rodrigo! does. We don't have lizards or iguanas as pets no, but I've always kinda wanted one of those. Scares seven shades of shit outa burglars. Thanks for stopping in bro!

SantaClaus: Thanks man, muchappreciated! Yeah it does look that way on the photo too. Also I don't know how the balance herself on the photo, looks like she's falling over. Need to fix these problems in my sketches.

Sveta: Hi! Hope you had a wonderful birthday! It was my pleasure posting them. Unfortunately Africa is NOT the exotic romantic adventure heaven the West has made it out to be. If you want an accurate depiction of Africa, watch Hotel Rwanda. Great film, eye-opener. Luckily South Africa is far far more peaceful. I promise to post photos of our next trip to the Kruger National Park, though I have no idea when that'll happen!

The girl - no, her face is not alright at all! I only realised it as I was posting it and comparing it to the photo. I neglected that part too much. I'm glad you liked the rest though, I'm working to get that realism factor into my imagination work. On the large face - at first I couldn't see the difference in eyelevel and then I went and held it up against the mirror. . Problem = rush too much. Solution = draw with my left hand! haha. Regarding post #80 - that's wierd, I felt very reckless when drawing them, quickly mapping out features, aggressively scratching insensitive lines... Maybe it is due to their boxiness. They're all very box-like, rigid, unexciting.

Thanks for stopping in Sveta, it was a great read as usual! This reply of mine looks so short, but I'm tired and if I continue I'll sound drunk haha.

    -----

I was mighty pissed off this morning. Was doing another Luba study in Painter and everything was going supa, beyond supa. The proportions were looking great, it looked like I finally got her face right and the colours were coming out good + accurate. And then a power failure.

But I think tomorrow morning I'll be able to laugh about it lol.

I did a hogarth study in oC and worked some more on my COW for this week. I really want some hardcore rude unfriendly crits on it if possible. Take out all your frustrations on it, it's mocking you.

    ciao!

Hey Brendan , I was just wondering why an unfamiliar name is using demented's avatar. Is this a new account or were you able to change your username?

Anyway, compliments on the flying creature. I really think you ought to do more images with backgrounds like this, I forgot if I've told you before, but you're really pretty good at choosing a cool background to match your subjects and you're good at handling the compositions too.

Keep up the good works dude.

Yeah, got a new user profile (don't tell Jason haha). I can't prove anything but I'm pretty sure all my best friends were secretly mocking me behind my back about my name. Thaks for the props btw, good to see you still chillin out here.

The cow is coming along great, mate! Maybe work in some textures on the wings etc. And try hitting it with some sharp egdes to really make stuff pop. Love the colors - at first i wanted more contrast on it, but im not really sure if its needed here. great design and angle. Dynamic! Cool, man!

    Yo!

waka: wow, thanks ... I'm flattered that you like my stuff so much. You can't tell me you like everything - that would just be a blatant lie! Thanks for stopping in!

oma: No you're not! You want more and you want better! K?

Fellah.!!!: Hey, awesome seeing your here! Thanks for the crits - I'm planning in working a lot of texture in on the wings - reds and magentas - and also overlaying the whole image with a texture, just to unify it! It also needs some more variety on the edges - sharper ones in particular you're right! Will get to work on it! Thanks for stopping in!

    -----

Not too much updates, nothing big either. Have a lightstudy that I did in Painter, adding some texture in Painter and Photoshop. I also fooled around with pencils. Put down some random faces and then tried to bind them in a composition. Failed horribly though. I also realise the error with the punk's anatomy, esp his neck. anyway c&c welcome!

    ciao!

oke, i will be harsher on you. but keep in mind i love your stuff. .

that first one, the lightning looks good. but i think in that peace are a lot of perspective error's, look at the houses and to that car, it doesn't look right to me, maybe you would give that peace that feeling and than you did a good job, but if not, try to think more about the perspective!
and i really like that grass .

oke on the second one, the pencils, i love your rendering. but i think that punky dude's face looks really awkward, to big perhaps, ore the ears are not at the right position. skull to large ? can't really tell. but is doesn't looks right to me. the neck is not that big of a problem to me.

oke, but i really like your lightning in the first peace and i love the composition in the second peace, that face on the bottom right > amazing!
keep doing more of such stuff. and you now, (you said it yourself) i want more and better stuff .

Hey guys, jus' some replies for now, update later!

    })i({: Many thanks!

bhanu: Man, hearing "nothing to crit" from you is an feels like an achievement on its own. It is reffed, yeah, but I'm working between two screens and the colours between them differ greatly. So it was a challenge getting the right colour variations. thanks for the props bro, much appreicated!

oma: Perspective was never the issue with that piece. It was an impressionist-style colour/light study. Here is the link to the ref'd photo:

    http://wp.ekornveien.com/steder/Ghos...%20Wyoming.jpg

I'll check more on perp in the future. The sceond piece - you may be right, I still need to do most of that page and correct all the flaws.

Thest: Thanks man, appreciate those words! Means much, glad you like. Now, when the fluck are you updating your sb? Let's see some art, bitch! On the brushes - don't go spreading this but I'm using some of m@ and Barontieri's brushes haha. Still need to make my own, plan on getting to it soon! thanks for stopping in!

DTemp: you're DILE??!! wtf, I was planning on waltzing over to your sb and giving you crap because you're using "D's Sketchbook" haha. Nah, just kidding kid, Glad you like what I'm doing. That digi you don't like was just playing around in Painter, nothing serious - it's like those squiggles some people draw when they're talking on the phone haha. Sure man, I'll go check and rate your sb soon! Just trying to finish up on that COW entry right now.

Thanks again guys, will update either later today or most like*extremely* early tomorrow morning (gmt +2 lol). Muchappreciated, will try to make rounds to all your sbs!

Not much of an update - just some more work done on the COW. Started playing around with some texture, still more work and rounding off to do on the painting itself. C&C would be appreciated, really want to get into the "top cowers league" lol.

    Good looking update bro.
The contrast and the lighting is looking good. I think itd be cool if you could try putting a bit (just a bit more) contrast on the the ground. And also try to make the texture of the river more realistic. There isnt much wrong with the pic , just that now you have to start tweaking the work, fine tuning this piece.

That really fixed that picture! nice work man!

    Nice composition!

some more refinement on the closer-enviroment in the background would help it even more, just something that I could think of

ps. oh shit man, thanks for your comment!

try to work more on the background, more different colors. will give it more depth.
and give that river a more blueisch look.

Looks better than before, but still needs a lot of work.

    yo dudes

Hurri: Hey dude! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the props man! Visiting your sb is my pleasure, thank YOU for updating it so frequently!

bhanu: Fixed the contrast on the terrain here -I think now it's got a good contrast without interfering with the foreground. And I tweaked it up some, tired of it now, so now it's done. Hope it meets your awesomely high standards bro!

Dtemp: One step ahead of you thanks for stopping in again, your sb is lookin supah!

oma: Of course it needed a lot of work! It's a wip! hehe. Not going to put blue in the river, because blue is the colour of my shadows, I think it would destroy the colour harmony. The colour of water is determined ONLY by its surroundings! (as is many other things!)

K, here is the final. hope you guys like it, c&c welcome though I'm done with this puppy.

    ciao!

Yeah, got a new user profile (don't tell Jason haha). I can't prove anything but I'm pretty sure all my best friends were secretly mocking me behind my back about my name. Thaks for the props btw, good to see you still chillin out here.
