The position of the girls back in your last one looks really akward. Is she falling backwards?

    Nice stuff
I really like the "sai doodle" in your first post. The naked girl. Really impressive rendering of flesh.

You seem to not have many problems rendering texture, colour, light & shadow. Your proportions needs a little work, though. Got some figure studies to show us? We loves that stuff. Studying the human body will help A LOT.

    Ohyeah - deviantart sucks.

The girl in your most recent pic IS at a really awkward reclining position. I really really like the way you rednered her hair, though. Yowsa What's she doing with her hand, btw?

    Keep postin'.
As the pattern gets more intricate and subtle being swept along is no longer enough.

nice stuff, my fav has got to be the sai pic and the one of the bot and fairy(??). think u could work on ur anatomy tho but ur paintings have this nice homely feel to it (except the first one) which i guess is down to the colours you use. think the girl's hand in the last pic is a little over-bent, or maybe i just cant make my hand do that . keep posting

    cool style - nice colors.
some areas seem flat - and ask for more definition of the forms.

I like how you work with your digital colors, man, and your traditional lineart is excellent! I'll have to see how that dress progresses to get an idea of that final form.

I'm jumping into ssg37 if its cool, I think theres still room.

I like the Fuck the system page. It kinda reminded me of Oldpages of Hurricane's drawings. Very cool looking characters.
Anatomy is the main thing lagging, that's my crit.

And the Butterfly and 'Bot is the best one.

    Post more!

Wow... thanks alot for all the comments guys o_O. Gives me alot of motivation and lift which I really have been needing...

evolutionofshaun: Yea, it does look awkward. In general I need to put more thought into poses. thanks for pointing that out to me.

bunny: Thanks for the comment, I've been studying anatomy but I've really slacked on it lately. And yea... I've got mixed feeling about DA. But I'm not gonna rant.

    hurricane: Thanks, 'preciate it.

central: 'Nice homely feel'... ah, thanks... I don't know if that was my goal but I appreciate that.

    Dreamworker: Thanks man.

Oblio: More definition in parts, good observation... very right.. I get very complacent and lazy in parts of pictures. Thankyou

Matsign: Thx. I don't think that drawing will be progressing further (at least not yet.. well, maybe I spoke too soon... all this critique is making me really want to overhaul it. o_o)

    Bard: Thanks! Will do.

Month or two old, worked on it a little then left it alone for a long time, then worked on it every once in awhile. The character is a 'spider incarnate', a creature in a pencil and paper RPG I made a few months ago. The bot and butterfly pic was actually a creature too. One of those pics that looks completely different from what I scanned... you can sort of see an 'Akira influence' in this one. I didn't exactly finish it but I'll leave it alone for the time being. Done in painter.

And here's what I mean when I say I usually scan something then end up with something completely different when I paint it... these scanned lines are from several months ago, much older than the paintings. I'd like to think i've improved my linework alot since then as well as painting. You can see what the first picture of the goblin hunter was derived from as well as the 'bot and butterfly' when I first started painting them on these.

This is what I started coloring 'spider incarnate' from... big change... its actually a habbit I need to work on...I tend to paint over only rough linework and never on the better more defined stuff. Not sure why that is... guess I like a 'fixer upper'.

Thats a unique creative process by deviating from your lineart. Non-conformist. But the if the process aids the artist and the results are kick ass, keep it up!

Yeah, I think Justin Sweet also works that way. Very cool updates.
There's a book out by DesignStudioPress called The Skillfull Huntsman.
Very cool stuff, I think that's the best one that I saw about character design. yet.
Check that one out.I'll highly recommend it to anyone!

This ones a few months old, just touched it up with some color and decided to post something so I could update you guys... I'm going to have new stuff at somepoint soon... i'm sort of trying to change my whole approach to drawing...there's alot to be desired in my process right now, changing my approach is something I've needed to do for a long time. Most of the time i'm so impatient and in a rush to start something and start getting results, that the conceptual phase and brainstorming phase of drawing are almost completely cut out... I usually have no idea what i'm drawing or where it's going to go. Synchronizing the mind with the hand is the new challenge.

The depth of color is really cool in this one. I like the reflective light on the guys skin. I think you could do more with the cool colors especially the purple. Anatomy looks solid. He has a very intense demeanor.

Good luck with changing your whole approach? That's going to take some time, but can't wait for some more look at. Maybe taking time to warm up in your sketchbook might give you some direction when you move to working digitally, so you have an idea.

Character for a paint battle on another forum. About an hour and a half in painter for the colors and a 30 min sketch.

Wish I still had a scanner so I could post some sketchbook stuff... I'll try and post some sketch pages done in sai.

    nice update.
I have a book called Color Harmony in your paintings by Margaret Kessler.
Preety good book about the color wheel and the Munsell system.
What system are you using? I'm not that good with color combos though,
just learning it the past few months or so.

    Maybe just use a digicam?

2-3 hour paint... some very goofy looking alien species. Should have set this up more I guess... just went in and started on a face with a brush. Done in painter.

Bard... not sure which one i'm using. I think I sort of just merged what I liked from each one and it varies which I use (I don't really think about it right now).

Good on the last one, buddy. The guy has some interesting textures on him. Maybe use Harder shadows.? Like portions of 'em shouldn't be seen at all.
That would be my main crit right now. Let's keep posting, man....

The doodle of this I did at insomania. Colored in painter... the pose is horrible and I really wish I had rethought alot of it at a conceptual level, but I'm going to leave it unfinished and move on with another one... any more crits would be helpful.

Thanks for looking guys. Really appreciate it more than you know.

Some strange stuff here haha. Technically though the only problem I have with your pieces is that they are low contrast. I think you can push your values even further than you are. Remember that value contrast doesn't only have to do with using the entire scale from black to white, but having them next to each other. I think keeping that in mind will help a lot. Right now that's my only critique.

    Keep up the good work!

    Nice sketchbook!
I like your style you have here.
I thought the girl in post #5 was really interesting.
Even though some may say the hair looks akward, I think it looks appealing.
    Great stuff!
