Hey, some pretty nice stuffs here
I like those watercolor sketches, and Boo! Yeah, he rocks, though I prefer his second form myself '
The step-by-step brown armour guy looks a little off though... He looks like he's thinking "hey, why do I have to carry around all this junk..?"
The inconsistant coloring makes him look flat too.
The scientist woman's got some pretty interesting color work though.

Heya Razorb! You might wanna keep a clear distinction between shadow and light, in the second watercolour sketch I have no idea where the light is coming from. I like the first one, though.
Use contrast to attract the viewers eye... For example if you want to have a main focus on a characters eyes, then add dark values around 'em, you might wanna take a look at Wesley Burt's sketches and you'll see what I mean. Also, one thing I noticed from your sketches is that you use the same line weight all the time, mostly when you outline areas. Try to use more variety in your lines, light lines in light and heavier lines there, where light can't get directly. And in places where the form takes a curve, you can really pop them up by making a heavier line, following the form!
The drawing in the middle of the class sketching page is brilliant! Definitely the best drawing in your CA-sketchbook so far, in my opinion. The mech designs are pretty cool, too.
Keep experimenting, study other artist's works to see what they've learned and so on. Try different things and media, sometimes you can hugely improve by just trying out new tricks and tools, I know I have.
    Have fun, cheers

    d

I suggest you studie the anatomy abit closer, it might give you more freedom in perspective, but very nice, keep it posting. (gals, read it backwards)

    hey Razorb,

thanks for the comments in my sketchbook... returning the favour.

cool designs, but if you can push the mech designs further, you'll be kicking some arse. You already have most of the rough shapes down, and so far they're looking pretty balanced, solid, just a bit lacking on the detail.

but that's going to be a mix of studies, your own style, and some research. Human/animal anatomy helps a bit too.

did a quick 5 min sketch of your design.

block the sucker in, just rough perspective. Then jump in and have some fun. Shapes are ultimately broken down into elaborate boxes. And anyone can draw a box in perspective if they sit down and think. Shadows/lighting can be broken down the same way too.

then comes the designing. I went with knees and elbows here. Knee caps protect our leg joints. How to design it? either fudge it or go look at some construction machinery. Here, i fudged it. Tossed it in little shield like plate for the lower joint.

Added a little exposed tubing. Gave it little feet but kept it consistent with the original design (it's still going to punch holes in the roads and sink through soft ground but what the heck).

keep things consistent, if you got a certain design/visual cue, use it a few more times. If a joint is a certain style, keep it similiar throughout.
