Try to understand the form you are drawing, what pops out and what sinks in. Once you understand that you will be able to light your character designs with confidence. Try breaking your designs down to basic shapes and then add demision. Polish and tighten drawing after that. Commit what you do from your life studies to memory. If you don't remember what something looks like and can't remember pull reference and or do more studies, so you can know what it looks like especially in certain lighting situations. If you have to draw what you don't know over and over again to commit it to memory. I can draw horse decent but ask me to do a giraffe, I would be stuck and not know because I haven't drawn a damn giraffe, never. Your doing good dude. Keep at it; I want to see alot more studies. XD

Real nice man, real nice - I like the energy in these last two. Think you should keep working with that attitude when you do watercolours.

Also do you have photoshop? I've never seen you use it, but if you have access to it you can beef up how your pictures look when you post them. Just give me a shout and I'll show you bro.

Dude, there's a lot of crazy line confidence going on up in this one. Killer. Also, weird. This new one, too. Looks really good. That tiger is no match for her enormous caboose.
Keep bangin at the watercolors, spend more time working up the picture as a whole before rendering out specific information like eyes and mouths and stuff.

also i really like this, i dunno if its sorta the unfinished look to it or what..but the whole piece looks really foggy and atmospheric...its like you stopped at the perfect point to achieve it.....

what do you think about this piece it created a furore in my home, my dad found it in my sketchbook and claimed that this is pornography and not art. he tre id off the sb. I hated that, but I myself dont consider it porn.

Hey Bhanu, really liking your progess man, love the anatomy studies, their really showing through in your figurative work. Love your experiments with color, this is how we learn, keep it coming man.

About your question, well I think the drawing is a bit racey, Its not that shes naked or course, its just her actions. It seems to me that shes playing with her private area. Think about a model posing like that? Do you think it would be appropriate for a studio workshop setting. Most likely not in my opinion. But again thats just my 2 cents.

hey dude post 289 was awesome! great pencils and watercolours! i'm impressed with how well you get a sense os light in your watercolours as that seems like something that would be quite challenging.... i have never really done any water colours

anyway, about your question, if you drew it and you were thinking... "la lala lala la i'm drawing pornography" then i guess it should generally be considered pornography as thats what the artists intentions were. but as you say thats not what you were thinking... so as far as i'm concerned that means its not pornography. i would say its somewhat pornographic, but theres a difference... at least i'd say there is.....

heres the dictionary definition of pornography....

"printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings."

Lovely watercolour study, you're really getting the hang of working with water colours.

As for the so-called porn drawing - I've already posted my thoughts on it in your lounge thread, so no I don't think it's porn because you didn't draw it with that intention and I don't interpret it that way.

But do not let anyone discourage you my friend - you draw what you want when you want, and absolutely no one is allowed to tell you otherwise: not even your parents, I'm afraid. Free speech is in my humble opinion our birthright. Feel free to exercise it.

Updates , beena bit busy lately. roaming the city visiting places, actually taking my cousins to museums and zoos and all. Man its gettign hot and going out takes a lot out of you , couldnt do much more than sketches . but I am happy that I managed to do something everyday.

Nice linework in the zoo studies man. Active, energetic and not too finicky.

Watercolours are getting better with each update - haven't really done any work with water colour, so I'm not sure on how to crit these. Perhaps be less concerned with detail and more with shadow/light patches.

Keep art'n man, you've been making solid progress these last couple o' weeks.

on a quick scroll through what I see is beatiuful controll of line and contour. little or no control of composition and value. you need to consider how your drawing is sitting or composed within the framework of the page. and especially when you are working in color you lose any value composition you might have had..its easy to do. .

the anatomy is usaully pretty good but the lack of control of the media is hurting you

your line contour )(meaning building the for m with lines) is at times really nice


more work .. and you might want to slow down and tak elittle more time with it

I'll have to agree with the ladies. Your linework is really coming along and you've stepped your game quite a bit. But I think it's time to do some more complete studies again, appreciate the from. Even when doodling, pick an area and start shading it. It'll help with both understanding forms and composing. Once you start shasing, you'll automatically start thinking about composition.
