My objective is to make something realistic but that it belongs the eastern cultures.

I am finding prolongated excessively the head. It is a constant problem, exactly making the construction lines.

These are the head studies.
They had been different of the “reality”, way cartoon. I made from books of the Loomies, but I found a method complicated.



The difficulties in this exercise are: nose, and angle. If to perceive always is for right above. I do not know if it is the form as I locate myself. Seated drawing and the drawing in a table that is not inclined. It is the type of error that I see in the end.

I am trying here to go for realism as I said Two first ones using reference photo.
In the lesson of drawing I we are practising the exercicios (some) of drawing with the right side of cerebro. Mine my right side left nothing to see Finds not functions. We made an orange drawing but mine not left certain, the shading.

I have much difficulty with shade. but I decided to make some tests that not yet I finished pra to see if they give more depth





I use 2b and 6b for shadows.
Another thing that I am trying is to paint but I find that it must have something wrong with mine tablet. I made a video of the tests. if somebody will be able to help. I am thankful.

Hi, dont give up, you wont reach what you desire if you dont go beyond many obstacles, just keep going and dont torture yourself for not beign as good as you would like, but enjoy the journey, have fun, otherwise the process of reaching your goals will be a torture...
I recommend you to look for andrew loomis books, they are in english but they are one of the best books that will make you improve a huge amount if you apply hard work and study, i also recommend you to do still lifes, draw more from life, draw what you see and not what you think there is in front of you, do self portraits, but start doing very simple things because if you try to do something beyond your ability it will allways turn bad, take baby steps and have patience, you will reach your goals only with determination and hard work.

Your lines tend to be too light. To fix this get a fountain pen, then do a study with it like you've been doing, then do the same study over again matching the pens dark with a pencil. You'll simultaneously get a grasp of darks while building better control with the pencil.

Ah! you can definitely see the improvements the further along in this sketchbook you go~ You improve very fast =) Your most recent post is filled with very nice pictures. I really love the first piece, the torso is done so nicely! You also got much better with faces. The only thing I would point out is be careful with the cleavage, you don't always need to accentuate it so much or bring it up so high

Definitely keep at the life drawing and studies! They are already helping you so much I can only imagine what more they can do for you~

I love face, Love manga, but love more more the realism and keep for drawing for union of 2 styles: manga and realism. But is no easy.

I want draw more realistic faces and study of body [and began to make studies in this part but still unsatisfied, wanted to learn to use reference, but just drawing straight from the mind.] and it's a big problem, but had no scanner, but I'll try to keep up with posts here and keep work

heay mate, your pencils improved alot! ehrm ... one biger thing:when you portaiture, and you try to push the painting as close as possible to the original, realy look that you realy watch at distances and the exact going of the outlines of your original. and try to copy it in the same form on your paper. because at alot earlier sketches, i can see that you dont look closly enough on your reference.

Thanks for the tip, is very very important for me =].
A major problem is that I do not use reference =/ I no see the image and trace.
is as if something pushed me to do what is in my mind, even when I do life drawing exercises
But I'll try to do more exercises with references. I was looking for but not found anything that helps me "see" references, tutorials, videos...

Your last drawing from imagination is looking pretty good. Some things about your sketches: I can tell your working really hard on your faces and I think the next step is to get some more exaggerated expressions and to avoid too much symetry. (The two sides of a drawing shouldn't look like mirror images of eachother or it'll look static.)

I would suggest you read the first couple of chapters of "The Illusion of Life" it's for animators but I think every illustrator should read it. And take a look at http://makani.deviantart.com/ ? I find she gives her faces a lot of life.

Hey dude :D I just looked through your thread and you have improved so much since you began, really good~
One tip I'd like to give you though is if you make boobs big try and make make the woman's hips big as well, and not too skinny a waist~ I find this balances it out a little more. Since most women with big chests are usually curvy (:

Also, I agree with MoKhi's comment. Your faces are looking good and you're definitely developing your own style, but it's a good idea to practice expressions as well, it's more fun than a static face anyway :P good luck! (:

Hello there, some definite improvements and it's good to see you're using refferences. Keep studying and trying to get the same proportions as what you're looking at.

Anways, I can't help but notice you say your goal is to be more realistic. Right now the eyes you draw are very toony, like anime. Check out these links, they might be of use to you.

I know it's frustrating, but your just need to keep an eye on the structure of your drawings too so try learning about the planes of the head whilst you're at it. (I have to do the same my self xD)

I have drawn wherever there is time, and though at first had so hard for realism, today after a time, say I prefer to keep my own style.
I liked my eyes, mouths and style but is vague about the construction =/
