Lateman : thanks mate! Must say I really like your stuff.. hope I´m catching up to you!![]()
Well i got my hands on Painter 11 finally. And they seem to have answered my prayers! straight-lined-selection toolAs you can see the study was a speedy. I used selectiontool and airbrush.. I would have cleaned it up more if I had spent more time on it.
Last night I painted for hours... Stupid me didnt save anything and painter crashed several times... wasn´t painters fault, but mine... Silly me...
Oh well steps from last update.. its done from 3D ref. Trying a new style. Lose and gritty.. I like it.. its fast and rough good for ideasketching

the bugs look kinda cool!
School has opened my eyes to watercolour. Never used it before, but I really like it. Here are few sketches. Nothing grand, but I´m happy, seeing they are my first tries with a new medium!
Note all these are done for a school project. Nothing grand or great but still. Just to show you something different.

More stuff from my school. We did some portraits and other facial feature exercises.
We were divided into a group of four. First one is of Judit, and second of Thea. Both are really great people who I have gotten a good head start with at school. there is also Nadia, but we didn´t get enough time to get to draw her. I feel really privileged to have gotten to know them.
And last there are a few of the facial expressions I did. These were done fast. It´s a bad habit I have I guess. I tried to keep a certain resemblance on each of them, but... oh well...

You've made some astounding progress in your sketchbook here. Good stuff.
Just some small thoughts after looking through some of the recent pages of your sketchbook.
It looks like you need to study female faces more. You're doing well with bodies and whatnot, but the faces of a lot of the girls recently look squashed, or mannish. I dunno, maybe the source girls are manly or what.
Otherwise great progress man.

Sepulverture : Thanks for dropping by! I totally understand what you are saying. Will keep it in mind!
Selfportrait day is now over. Wish I could have spent more time on it, but I came home late from work... gonna do more of them though!
Second is not the greatest.. far from it. But I find it has value enough to show. I used a new and fresh technique on this one, pushing my combination between soft and hard brushes. I also didn´t touch the eraser! Just painting over mistakes is possible! I also stayed zoomed out through entire drawing. 50% and below! Even on the face.
and no overlay layers or anything like that. Didn´t need it, and I must say I find the result to be good... My heart is still for Painter, though I have been using PS much more lately. So who knows...

the Selfportrait looks real good man. keep doing them and you will gain skillz in no time
the girl as well looks real good. I think its great that you stay at 50% zoom. that way you focus on the important stuff and dont get lost in details. volume is certainly there.
last post is saying if not screaming "imporvment"keep it coming
(btw, PS, fuck the rest)
Φ phil : Thanks mate! Though, you should work more with Painter too mate. It is so different. I uesed to stay away from PS, but now I see possibilities with it too. So I´m gonna work with it too. But Painter will always be there. Just something about it...
Anyways, here is some fast unfinished sketches I found lying on my hardrive.
Nothing special. Just experimenting. I find it to be good for me. Loosening myself up and staying open. Just like the PS thing.
Going towards that which I am not so comfortable with, and evolving.
Last one is from today.
More to come, for sure!

looks like you're having a good time mate, happy to hear the schools going well and all
nice job with those digitals and great job on that self portrait, really well done.
Looks like you're having tons of fun experimenting, and i think its a really good thing, opens up to a lot of possibilities and definately makes things less boring, just try and keep the right balance between consistency in study and exploration.
Go go go!
ciao!
TheGnoll : Thanks mate! your visit means a lot to me. Happy Birthday btw! ?
Another experiment.I agree it is not a prtty sight, but it was a totally new approach on a study. It was suuuper fast!. Wish I saved the process to share with you guys. Oh well.
Here is the unfinished study I did between my schoolstuff. I guess I should post some pencilwork on next update!

the alchemy stuff looks nice , as for the selfportrait I suggest more proportion study and anatomy and volume/shadow
take care
Giorge : Thanks mate. Totally noted. Gotta get those faces fixed!
Just some things I´ve been working on lately. Personal stuff inspired by some of my favourite illustrators/graphic artists
First ones are from my sketchbook. Rough studies from photos I found on NBA website. Awesome.

Then I just take normal A4 printer paper (cheap and great to scan) and start from scratch, rendering it out more before I take it in Photoshop/painter for next step. This one was actually done with no ref besides the previous sketchbook sketch. But I guess you could see that
More to come. I am also planning on going through several sports, not just basketball. Just need time!
Happy Newyear btw!
