Figured I might as well finally open up a sketchbook. See ya around. Hopefully this will keep me motivated.

Old miscellaneous images. Several are from this year, the rest are just ones I liked from my old portfolios.
...Will update with my oil studies and whatever random doodles I come up with soon. Thanks for visiting.

Update. Felt artsy enough to attempt a self-portrait with a mirror.
I learned a bit, I think. OpenCanvas, 1 hour (I think). I'll post the event file later.

the skull and the apple are awesome keep on!! more sketch dude!
Verehin - Thanks. The 'pig' is based a reference of Bebop from TMNT for a friend's mmo clan, or whatever. I agreed to do the concept because - seriously - who wouldn't want to paint Bebop?
EKOes - Thanks. I plan on adding more as I find time. Sadly, a corporate job keeps me from having the amount of time I'd like to create and practice.

destinyapocalypse - Thanks!
I bought a scanner and spent the last hour or two scanning and resizing images from the clipboard I keep at work. This clipboard contains all of my recent sketches done during meetings or downtime at home. I apologize for the dumb copy-paste job on the signature. I'd never meant for people to see these, so most were completely unsigned.
I figure I might as well dump them all here so they have a place to live...
[Edit: Several are mislabelled - and done in late 07 when I was working as a tattoo artist. If something looks out of place (like the "Only God Can Judge Me" set, and the praying thug, it was likely a client request.]

Loving what I see so far! I am especially fond of the fifth drawing in the second post, not so much the subject but just the way you did it, the black and white worked really really well for it! You better keep posting, your style is great!
MAN YOUR STUFF IS GREAT!!!
ur like the new huri! ur stuff really makes me wanna draw.
cya around homie!
really great concepts in here, and nice value in your sketches, keep posting!
Clessy - That drawing was done quite a while ago - when I first got my tablet. Though I like how it's probably the most "complete" picture I've done to date, it's also one of the least correct, lighting-wise. I'd like to think I learned a lot about hard and soft edges and the sort since then, but I appreciate your input.
joseph-fb - If you're referring to the user "Hurricane" on these forums, I'd have to say you're sadly mistaken. Hurricane's work is phenomenal. One day...
HFix - Thanks!

sweet line work and crazy quirky characters! very niiiiiiiiiiiice.Itd be cool to take the control you got with your pencil and the texture/shading therein and couple it with some PS but keeping your color layers transparent thus keeping the pencils crisp... just keep the pencils on a seperate layer and then fiddle with the color layers settings....ie: overlay.

Awesome style of art here, and lovin the energy from these little guys keep it up, and stop by sometime

smokenmirrors - Thanks for the suggestion. I've done a significant amount of lineart coloring in the past, and will likely end up doing a lot more of it soon. I should be getting a studio in my new place, so I'll be able to work off my drawing table and actually get crisp linework.
jedininjaman - Thanks!
Plugged my scanner back in today to scan in some legal docs and decided to update my sketchbook with more of the overly rendered doodles I burn time with in meetings.
Winged mushroom guy.
Irish boxer? I dunno.
Hole in the head.
Also, I guess I'll post a quick iscribble pic:

good looking work in here, i'm glad i stopped in, if just for the picture of bebop alone lol...i think your pencil drawings that you scanned in look really nice, you have a very smooth rendering style...need more!![]()
nice style you've got going. those first couple oil studies are very well done...your rendering is also top notch.
gr4f - Thanks. Bebop is awesome. I agree with needing more. As I think I said above, I will be moving soon and should have a studio, so I'd be able to actually work without interruption, and with access to all my supplies. More will come!
boba64 - Not really sure where the 'style' came from, more just a mish-mash of shit I found interesting over the course of my life. Also, for clarity - the paintings I believe you're referring to are actually acrylic. Thanks for the comments!

Nice drawings! I like the way you render your pieces, but sometimes the heavy outlines make the drawings more flat than they should be imo ;D
voltairianman - Hey, David! Thanks for the kind words. Glad you joined CA. It's a good community here, definitely inspiring.
paran0id - Hah. Thanks.
pijus - I do like painting skulls...
collings - Thanks, man. I haven't decided yet if I like it or not, but it's definitely amusing me at the moment.
Fshoo - Thanks. I do agree that the harsh outline needs refinement, and tends to mute the values inside of it. I think it's also complicated by the fact that I leave white paper around it. I need to actually finish a picture one of these days.
Yay, another drawing and a bad picture of a bad pumpkin carving. Looks better with a better pic.

really awesome. you have a great grasp of 3d, and your shading really pops your drawings off the page. keep it up man, are you going to start to dabble in digital?
kischi - Thanks, dude. I do need a lot more practice, but I'm slowly "getting" it. I appreciate the comments.
jdeegz - Thanks! As I said above, I need a lot more practice. Will continue putting in the time to figure this out as best I can. As far as "dabbling in digital" goes, several of the beginning paintings listed off here are digital, normally OpenCanvas with a select few being Photoshop. I plan on working more in digital, but mostly to learn techniques that can apply to traditional media, as well.
Thanks for the comments, guys.
Here's the beginning of a Munny I'm working on. Acrylic paint pens are a blast! It's a corporate zombie, rendered grayscale.
...man, my camera sucks.
