First time I've seen this book but you're making leaps and bounds compared to the first few pages.
Liking your digital painting too, those crabs were really good but I pity they were so small.

I guess I better update before you guys start throwing stones! haha.

Thanks for the support, though. Really. I'm sort of in a slump, and only the nice, thoughtful comments of you kind people made me post.

I also have some sketches I'll scan either tonight, or tomorrow..

Thanks for the motivation....like the last robot design, but I know you can do better, so get your ass to work! Go go go!

P.S. Just noticed you said you were in a slump, guess what no your not, its all in your mindset man, your MINDSET, seriously...whatever you tell yourself you are, you are...so change that mind to, I am soo F*ING stoked and I love drawing, I am going to draw so much tonight, and go do it! You have to force yourself when you are in those situations....it happened to me the other day, almost felt like giving up for no reason, just my mind playing tricks. And guess what I did, I went a drew, and changed my mindset. Your doing good man, your work is kicking ass, so keep up with it and keep up a positive mind! You are awsome. Now go draw

I also wrote some stuff on my blog maybe it will inspire you... http://justinbeckett.wordpress.com/thoughts/

i like the the knight you painted but am not too fond on the colours, that's probably just my personal taste tho but i think for things like knights i usually don't like the bright in your face colours, they always remind me of asian mmo's

Hey man, cool robots, I find them very hard to do. For the character I have to agree with Lav, but not on the mmo part .

    yo mate nice studies.
In these greyscales in the regions where the outlines are going away(beign rendered) everything looks more 3d) so just dont forget to render everysingle drawing line (probably you left some places cause you changed subject so i think its ok and you know it already)
    keep up the good work

    Hey sub!

In the last piece, having two elements of equal size, color and detail (cactus and bush) it's really flattening the image. I'd suggest pushing the bush further back in space and maybe graying down the colors to imply depth.

I'm liking the grittyness of your brush strokes a lot!

Very nice mate. Its very good that you are start making your own personal brushes.
In this last one i think the legs need some check, or maybe not the legs but the metal equipment on them.Watch some metal and try to imply the effects of it (the nature of the metal material) and put it in the equipment.
    keep up the good work

So this is where I stand right now; I graduated with a BFA from VCU a year ago, and have slowly drifted away from my love. I'm trying to get my ass back in gear, as I ramp up to move out to california to the Concept Design Academy in October.

I'm going to try and post weekly.

I like the poses from the characters, I never get that down right :p
THe first one's working out good, the others are not as strong.
The big one isnt big enough and the fat lady anit fat and ugly enough, just looks like a ugly dude with red hear and boobs :p

Check my SB later on, I'll post some character work from my internship.
And now summers at the door its time to blow some new life into this SSG and waken things up again!

I'm starting to get hungry too. How bored are you Misch?

Watch out for the "muscled out" syndrome. You've got lots of guns in here and I think it'd be a good time to hit some studies of some muscled people. It's not that you're not getting your muscles right- you're getting to be past that. You're just rendering them out as if they were each an individual form, not an individual form under skin that makes a complete unit. All of your deltoids, biceps, triceps, and unpronounceable forearm muscles are too defined and some of the guys are getting stiff.

Edit: I had this link: http://classicbodybuilders.com/class...builders1.html

Looks like you're still rocking pretty hard here- good for you. I'm super bored. Hard to start things without deadlines, ya know?

    So many deleted sketches.

Hit me up if you wanna collaborate or something. I wanna work some more sci-fi shiz and thought of you.

    And your wavy hair.
