Hey, I have a sketchbook now! Hopefully this will motivate me into pushing myself to draw better constantly, instead of settling for churning out crap safe in the knowledge that no-on will ever see it.

Now, onwards with the art! Some digital doodles, sketches and studies done in Sketchbook Pro and some graphite life-drawings. More soon!

Okay, here's todays addition. Some pages from my A3 sketchbook, which means I had to photograph them as my scanner is small and weak. That, and I was to lazy to go through the process of stitching them images together.
Got some pages of quick figure studies, most of them from reference, and some heads done with no ref.

great expressions and figure studies... porn is definitely the best source for female body practice heh.

maybe try more stuff from your imagination and put this growing library of anatomy knowledge to work for you?

0shade0 - Thanks! I try to do at least a page of faces a day with at least a few expressions, otherwise I end up with a page of grumpy faces.

Ferg - Heh-heh, yeah, porn is awesome reference. Keeps my attention pretty well! Ive been trying stuff straight from imagination but I always had problems constructing a figure from scratch. I got into a bad habit of using figure ref and following it precisely, which has left me unable to draw figures w/out ref. I shall break this habit.

Now for todays somewhat variable contribution. Some torso studies and gestures, a shoddy page of faces and my shoddier attempt at a spacegirl from my imagination...

Oh well. Im going life drawing tomorrow, so there shall be life nudity soon!

Some lifedrawings today, a page of three 15-minute poses and two pages with 45 minute poses. Found these challenging as I am notoriously slow so I was throwing graphite all over the place to try and finish on time. They also shown me how much I really need to work on my hands.

Not much to show today unfortunatley. Been brainstorming my IMAF competition entry and trying to regain my confidence sketching on the computer.

So, here is a screen of warm-up heads and two ideas for the IMAF pinup, complete with an ugly koala. All done in Sketchbook Pro.

Now for some stuff from my new A4 sketchbook. Feels weird drawing small again. I think I prefer A3 size but its just not as practical as an A4 book.

Oh yes, and a sketchy digital WIP for the IMAF contest, where I will do my best to pretend to be an anime artist.

invinciblewombat - I love pandas that do drugs! Apparently (according to a fellow stoner) cannabis can grow up bamboo shoots and pandas eat it, getting baked.

Anyway, slow progress for me these days, will try and step it up. Today we have the digitally inked IMAF entry. Will colour tommorrow, too tired now. If anyone sees any mistakes in it, now is the time to tell me.

Azrael - Thanks man! I use Loomis methods for figure construction, starting with a simple manneqiun (did I spell that right?) and then add the main masses to it.

Been a while since my last update, which makes me feel bad as I must keep this up. Especially after seeing how these sketchbooks have improved others skills so much. So, here is some life drawing and a WIP on that IMAF entry.

Been feeling a bit rusty these days, trying to draw myself out of a slump, so I hit up some loomis studies. I always find that studying loomis mannekins helps me pull my self together. Some noodles here as well, and the finished boomerang girl.

I miss Steve-o so much already, what a cool dude he was. His daughter is too cute. I felt so bad for his family when I heard.

Try to use larger brushes to block things in, then later go in with the little bruhes for highlights. I work a lot in colored pencil, so naturally it took me a while to stop using the little brushes myself. For drawing hair, this might help :Tutorials

I think you have good studies. keep em up. and your photoshop work shows promise... but I agree with bobmarley about blocking in some colors first. Keep posting!

MrBobMarley - I know what you mean about the larger brushes, I used to work in coloured pencils as well. Its another bad habit to break out of. I have a comissioned painting to do soon, so I will force myself out this small brush addiction!
Thanks for the link to that tutorial! I'll have to put that one to use soon.
I miss Steve as well, his show saved my hung-over sunday afternoons from oblivion.

SantaClaus - Thanks for the kind words man! You gotta get yourself a santa avatar, mines just a temporary one till I can put together a spaceman one. I've included the old painting that my santa avatar came from.
