    Helllooooooou guys.
here we go with a new study update. there are three 30 minute Masterstudies and one 5 hour study.
For all of you who think that these 30 minute studies are senseless, I'm sorry to bother you
I think, however, that they help imensly at least for what I want to get out of it. Like right now my study focus will be to actually learn how to "build up" an image and how to imply details. What I mean by that is that I think I know how to render the shit out of stuff, I get better at it constantly and I believe it comes pretty easy to me. What I really do struggle with is the very beginning stages of a painting, like blocking in values and colors. I don'T have problems with it because I cant do it but because I am afraid to just throw them down, so I tend to do clean lines and filling them in which tends to end up with me getting caught up with rendering waaaay to soon slowing down the process immensly.
So what I want to do now is to just get over it by forcing myself to work differently.
Soooooo to start out I decided to actually work from paintings because it makes things a little easier because in some cases you can actually see how it is build up, which you can't do with photos.
So the next step will be the same exercise but with photos and lastly from life..so yeah that'S the plan
    here we go!

AAAAAAAH no stop. one more thing: I actually recorded the entire process of the more detailed masterstudy on livestream, so you can go and check out the recordings on

    http://livestream.com/gloominati

I will be streaming daily right now, so if you want to check out my streams while I actually record add me on twitter or facebook to stay updated.

I also uploaded the fullres PSD file, to download it, check out my blog : http://cgbrush.org

    Really great master studies man!
Did you get the 30 minute study idea from reading Michael Biereks blog?
Or did you just try it out of your own curiosity as a better colour value option?
Either way they turned out sick, I'll give it a try myself soon enough.

That last one is really nice. I like your brushwork.

Hey guys, heres todays livestreamstudy, around 1,5 hours. Having done all these masterstudies basically focusing on brushwork, values, edges and all the good stuff I figured it might be a good idea to do a photostudy in that style before jumping into imaginationwork, so here we are

as yesterday the entire paintingprocess can be seen on

    http://livestream.com/grobelski

7 hours of drawing after 8 hours of everyday job, that's a true artist in my mind, huge respect coming out for you.
Nice clean style, those metallic armors definitely look realistic.

    heix33- thanks

so just a quick update. did a little 1,5 hour sketch from imagination to kinda test what I have already gotten out of these last studies, and one thing I can already see is massive improvement in speed and the amazing continuity. The process just feels like a clean buildup no dicking around. The next step will be to actually paint an entire painting this way getting it to teh finish I normally shoot for. greeaaat stuff happening here, great

    hellouuu

    another livestreamstudy

Wow things are getting toough, I'm at the point right now where it becomes really hard to squeeze in personal work, since freelance is catching up pretty nicely. And even if it's a good thing I gotta figure out how to make more time for studies to get better and finally for personal portfoliowork, well we'll see.

Now on to todays study. Finally after probably many months I have finally done a lifestudy and it was wicked fun!
Now I don'Ttwant to sound arrogant or corny or something like that but when I did these masterstudies and that last photostudy I kinda had the feeling that this stuff was too easy, like I was just painting it and at some point it was finished, it was fun to paint but there was literally no struggle doing them.
SO I decided to step it up and do some lifestuff and look at that shit, I COMPLETELY butchered this study, painting this shit was so hard and I was sitting there while painting it not knowing what to do next, and all that stuff.

And this is a great thing, because now I know what I can't do again, I know what kind of experience I am lacking to improve my personal work that I do from imagination, this is just the best fucking feeling in the world
right now WOOT. I'm just imagining doing livestudies every day for a month now and just thinking about how much it will help me to improve makes me feel all fuzzy

Soooooo heres that shitskull, around 1,5 hours + the psd file, link as always on my blog : http://cgbrush.org , next one tomorrow

phenomenal works you have here, I really love how the paintings you do all have that really loose painterly feel to em, really nice. Also you have some badass creature concepts too. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us. keep up the great work!

Hey guys. Here's todays gorillastudy. There's actually quite a bunch of stuff I am getting out of these and I'd love to rant about it here as I normally do but seriously, I'm just crazy tired right now and will do this tomorrow I think. So for now here's the livestreamstudy and the PSD file on my blog:

    http://cgbrush.org .

Btw I will start streaming my actual gorillaguardians illustration tomorrow, so if you are interested to watch and maybe talk, add me on twitter or on facebook to know when I will be streaming:
