amazing... It seems I can't seem to find a sketchbook that I can relate to anymore. Almost every sketchbook I open up has art in there that are simply amazing. Somethings that I can't seem to do, no matter how much I want to...

    Keep up the great works!

Sketch - Thank you !! yeah i gotta work on pushing things...and finishing lol.

I went to this local art festival called First Friday and stumbled upon a very awesome shop/gallery that sells loads of posters and prints and original art. First thing I saw when I walked in was Shawn Barber's new book, and it turned out they had a lot of his prints as well on sale, so I bought 5 hehe.

Then I walked over to a gallery called the MTZ gallery where Derek Hess was showing, and lucky for me he was there ! Ive been a fan of his work since I was pretty young so it was awesome being able to meet him.

Thank you so much!! You have helped me immensely with your advice. I have been thnking hard about my lines, every time that I draw now. I make myself use my whole arm, when I draw sketches. But, I tend to go back to my scratchiness. Old habits die hard... live free!

This stuff looks pretty good. The pencils are showing good development. Your critters have a very nice sense of texture to them. All I can think of is to use some really dark shadows to help out with contrast. Also, I wanna see some finished stuff! XD

Keep working at it, you've got a good thing going here!

your pencils look awesome, and the values on those mini paints look great. guess you could try working on the form of your character's clothing, but that's such a minor point it's hardly worth mentioning...

I like this! Hmm maybe you could study more colors from life, so you don't have to rely on the greyscale coloring all the time

keep doing value studies [value studies from life would probably be a good struggle for u]
In those greyscale images you are doing, you still aren't really pin-pointing your light source... you are only lighting things from a general area. Things are easier to render and will show more form if you really choose a specific light source, and stick to it

    I like this a lot

keep on rocking that round brush just remember to change its scale back and forth that way you can consentrate your marks which will give you soft and hard edge variations where needed.

Hey Dished, cool stuff coming out. The anatomy and studies are looking a lot better.

One suggestion though. You need more structure, you're generalising to much, kinda smudging the planes, try to define the planes, simplify them. Make them as big as you need to make clear brushstrokes. When you understand planes you'll be able the understand better how the light hits them and describe the surface.

Good luck and keep it up.

Interesting expressions on the characters overall , and your working corner look's quote comfy , keep pushing those anatomy studies, and try to keep the characters more clean , so the viewer can get a clear view of the overall.
I am very interested how things evolve in here

    see ya, G.
