Some anatomy stuffles. It made a change using colour to seperate the muscles from bones and tendons, pretty fun.

Some obsys that I have done over the past few days. Trying to keep a routine of about 2 obsy paintings a day.
The Orange painting is the most formless piece of crap ever![]()
Latest obsy poo. 1st with texture, 2nd without texture and 3rd with texture and fiddled contrast.
Thats odd, I have just noticed that my uploaded images appear more faint than the photoshop images. This is confusing...
heh ya that last colouring picture of the 3 is the best XD nice antomy studies too , they dont hit of over the head
Cheers Lapada
Some sketches of feet, and other bits and pieces.
I looove Japanese fashion! Great for getting a visual clobber archive in your noggin!![]()
ehy man, cool to see some updates in here!
again, the improvement since last year is really really unbeliavable, lovely studies and very cool sketches!
whatever you're doing don't slow down, cause it seems to be working!
ciao
Thanks for the encouragement Gnoll! It's good to know that I am on the right track!
Stuff from today, and a character from last night![]()
Studying anatomy is so fun! It's like a massive puzzle
I have been trying to conquer drawing females too, quite possibly my biggest weakness at the moment... slooooowly getting there.
Lurvely.
Are youworking from any particular anatomy book, if so what is it? Faces are nice, looseness of the sketches gives them a spontaneous, natural feel.

Bones Weep Tedium I'm currently studying from about 4 or 5 different anatomy books at the moment. I sort of mix it all up, because some books have qualities that others do not.
For example, Ill look at "An atlas of anatomy for artists by Fritz Scrider" and "Atlas of human anatomy for the artist by stephen rogers peck" Studying the muscles groups, trying to learn about the muscles in an almost medical way. Then once I am informed of what the muscles/bones are, I then need to understand the actual forms of the body, because alot of anatomical drawings are flat. So to solve this I look at "Bridgman's complete guide to drawing from life" and Ill also look at "The Human Figure by John. H Vanderpoel".
The more recent sketches are from bridgeman, His book is probably the most useful for me because it's chock full of useful bits and pieces, such as simplified forms and also showing how the body works as a machine. Definitely worth purchasing

Ive had a busy weekend so not much stuff to show at the moment, but here goes anyhow.
Fun, fun, fun! That lemon was a bitch to paintyellow is such an annoying colour.
Thought its about time I painted tits.
These are freaky bitches, but it was a good test for getting a better feel for flesh. I'd like to push for subsurface scattering next time I thinks![]()
Thought I might as well stick this up. Still a work in progress, mostly at the experimenting stage, tweaking colours to affect the mood etc.
Is this a scene from Frankenstein? The lighting is nice, though I think that if you were to use slightly cooler colours in the shadows then it would look less sepia-tinted. The single lightsource would probably cast shadows just as you have depicted them coming off te right of the monster, and so the shadows on the figures should be a lot more dark. Google chiaoscuro to see what I mean.
Would be nice to see more gubbins in the room to make the scene more immersive![]()

Bones Weep Tedium Yeah it's scene from Frankenstein. Read it recently, a good read! Ah Ha chiaroscuro Ive been trying to remember that word for ages! Thanks for the suggestions, Ill have ago at applying them later
Digi painting is sooo fuun!!! Such a fantastic tool for learning. Need to get better Gahh!
Couple of crappy studies and a robot.
I need to experiment with my colours a bit more. I tend to be quite monochromatic![]()
hey Rich, working hard over summer. great improvement with anatomy and love the looseness and energy your getting in those fashion studies. Your digital paintings could use a bit more contrast. Especially the metallic objects. darken the shadowns so you speculars pop more. Think about it, when you look at a specular your eyes auto adjust and drown out the contrast. Try and paint it as before your eyes adjust. SQUINT!

good lordy rich, you have been a busy bee over summer aintcha?
Looking really grand mate, keep this pace up!
Well what a cock I am for not updating this often enough!
Here are some recent things that I have been working on lately.
Expect stuff to be updated here more regularly on here, I need to get myself into a proper routine and get a new rig that actually saves Jpegs properly and sort out a scanning routine.![]()
My sleep pattern is a bit er.....odd.
Inspired by Jason Seiler! I'm going to paint some more celebs, how fun!!!
Hey there! Liking the studies a lot. Keep those up when you can! I like the atmosphere in the creature painting in post #292.
Watch some of the edges of your digi paints where the surface gradually turns away from us. The still life of the orange for example is flattened because both sides of the orange has the same values. Think of it as a sphere in gray scale and think how the light is interacting with the object. Where are the light coming from? Is the object receiving any bounce light? From where?
Hope all goes well for your final year! Good luck and keep it up

I've been having real issues with my female characters. Quite possibly my biggest weakness. So I have tried to nail the problem on the head by painting up a female character. The design isn't particularly interesting but I was tying to achieve hotness as it were.
Quickly upload this while Im thinking about it!

Drat, I just realized that I was painting this at the wrong screen angle, so it may seem too dark.
Thoughts on lighting and colour? I really wanted to capture the tropical colours.
HAve you seen this month's ImagineFX? Great feature in there about pin-up art that you mihgt find interesting, loadsa good names to investigate if you wanna get better at that cheescake type image.
Your dinosaur doesnt seem too dark to me, but it does look a little oversaturated...!

Woah ritch! great updates. Colour and lighting on the last one, Green needs cooling down in like 75% of the areas you have it i would say, be selective about your saturation
