Gustavo, thx.
I bought some tempera yesterday so I tried to do some tradional painting, I don't even have to mention I was frustrated
I'm used to watercolors and working with more opaque medium currently is a pain in the ass... But I'm looking forward to some mixing with watercolors and inks, oh and the feeling of scattered brushes, colors and papers all around the table in 3 in the morning ^^. These (paintings) actually came out ok, but the pencils are messed up, 'couse I spent like only 5-10 minutes on sketching out the characters due to laziness *sigh*
I hope I won't offend anyone with a bit of dark humor too, heh -_-'

HEy there! Pretty good stuff you got in here. The traditional things turned out not that bad man. and its funny you consider those pencils as rough since their looking pretty awesome!![]()
cool stuff (:
it's all good, but this one caught my eye

I love how much you experiment with different rendering styles! Really neat...
One overall critique I have after flipping through is you could concentrate a bit more on your digital highlights...sometimes the midtones flow too smoothly into them, or they simply arent bright enough!...they will just sell your forms even morehopfuly it wont hurt the style you like but its worth a shot

wonderful stuff! last one is hilarious

This neo baroque stuff is excellent.
Pascallo: thanks, I think you misunderstood me, I meant the pencils I did for paintings, other ones are much much more than 10 minutes
dorobo: thx, I did that for a DSG topic, if I remember correctly.
Jakers: thank you for taking your time to do a critique, I'll definitley look into this stuff
hurricane: hah, I'm glad you liked it ^^ perv!
tokidokizenzen: thank you.
Here's some more stuff, mostly sketches and two croquis. I did the inks for the viking pretty nervously, I really have to calm myself before working with brush.
You may notice frazetta influence in some of the sketches ^^
One of them is for this week's CHOW, but I don't know if I'll have time to finish it up as I want it.

I like your lines dude, and that ink stuff is coming along nicely. Can you post a few more faces only.. im interested in how your getting so much expression with such simple features... (a compliment lol) ;-)
Hah, RandAlThor, thanks for the compliment. I think the point with good inking is that you have to be fully aware of the object you're inking, like his volume, texture and where does the light come from. Then you have to express the shadows and texture with as little simple strokes as possible
Because when human eye is viewing the subject, it sees forms and play of light and shadow, not lines. (or so i think^^)
I'll post some more faces when i do them![]()

Well, here's something I did on sunday, nothing special but I like how the skintones came out. The detective guy is in a heavy WIP stage (actually only his head is relativley ok^^) Hope I'll catch some time tomorrow to finish him...

I've been off and on rummaging through this thread for about an hour now and felt the need to commend you on an awesome sketchbook. I really like the choices you're making and how simplistic some of your pieces are, while still conveying a lot of mood and telling the story well.
Good job man.

Kidult, Enthomed thanks a lot for stopping by!
I know I haven't updated for a long time but keeping with the deadlines and the college doesn't leave me with much time to post! Here are some doodles from tonight, hope you dig.
No pencil, the blue lines are done with fabric marker (the closest thing to technical transparent ones I could find here in Zagreb) and the black is a regular Faber-Castell marker... I find this way of drawing very smooth and fluid, I think I'll experiment a bit more with this
The blue fabric marker is great to lay out the general form of a drawing on paper while keeping it transparent and loose, I almost like it more than blue pencil!
