The professor was sure he had it. The answer to creating artificial life! His terrible creature should be alive, but somehow it wasn't moving.
"It's horrible! I'm an idiot! I wasted my time on this forsaken creature! I'll never work for the army again, damn them! Damn their robot! Damn their doomsday plans!" he shouted.
While he was furiously looking for faults in the control panel of the droid, he didn't notice the flicker in the red eyes of the android behind him. First thoughts flowed into its intricate circuits. Slowly the creature moved its hand. The electronic brain of the creature began to speed up and questions formed in its metal head.
"What is all this? What is this small being before me? Why is it moving so quickly? Why is it so loud? Can I make it stop?"

The Sandhunter (Incultus Onis)
This creature lives on the desert planes of the african continent and is known to kill all things living that cross its path.
Its origin is largely unknown but some crossbreeding between pigs and a large predatory birds is expected.
Very little is know of the sandhunter. All biologist trying to study it in the past have either gone missing or were found dead.
It is suspected that the sandhunter has a very bad temper.
Its habitat is in scattered parts of central africa, mostly in the area of the Zambia-Botswana border.

Image for cow #54 - Sandhunter. Had a lot of fun doing this one. The little insets are a great tool to dive deeper into the creature.

The Unknown
It was said strange creatures inhabited the swamps. The people of the nearby village suspected that these creatures took
people that drowned and transformed them into the living dead of the swamp. They were known as "the unknown". Some
that survived the encounter with the unknown spoke of "A spider-like ghostly image rising from the swamp, Its skin blue,
cyan even, transparent. Their limbs were protruded with long spikes, or sticks which made them very mobile in the sludge.
Their image was truely frightening!"
The swamp has been closed for public since a series of accidents, but people often speak of the strange silhouettes moving
in unsettling jerky movements over the swamp and of their high pitches howles that sound through the night.

This was made for Chow #35 - X90 - Cyan - Horror Movie Monster/Color concept. And actually won Chow that week. woohoo!

The Furblegutter(stolidus subsido piscis piscis)
Probably the dumbest fish ever to have inhabited the ocean. The locals of the fiji islands called the Furblegutter "stupid sinking fish" in
their native language. Its lifecycle was extremely short. Once the male fish hit maturity they started collecting pearls to impress the
females of the species.
With its long and versatile tongue it attached the pearls to its forehead. In its blind collecting rage the Furblegutter never stopped to
consider the weight the pearls added to its forehead, making it an unstable swimmer. Most mature males died within a few weeks by
simply sinking to the bottom of the ocean because of the heavy load of the pearls. Since females of the species tended to mate with
the most heavely loaded males, the stupid habit of the sinking pearl finders was actually reinforced through reproduction.
Soon the newer generation fish began collecting pearls before they reached maturity. It is widely accepted among marine biologists
that the Furblegutter became extinct really, really fast.

An unfinished concept for CHOW #36 about a woman with an enlarged liver. Never got around to finish it on time.

Speedie for the Zombie thread. People seem to think it's a alien though. I'll settle for that as well.
The Lemmy(Lemur Madidus Visio)
The Lemmy is found in the Highlands of ireland. The most remarkable feature of the Lemmy is its manner of self defense. When it is chased by a predator, it will wait for a unexpected moment in the chase, bend over and stick it's hind legs in the air revealing a face-like feature on its underbelly. This menacing "face" on its belly is complemented by its huge tail giving it a look not unsimilar to a somewhat drunken rockstar. On its underbelly the Lemmy evolved two light area's with dark spots on its skin, resembling two wide open eyes.
While in this pose, the Lemmy furiously waves its hind legs and its fake head. This threathening pose, called the "Lemmy face", is most effective in scaring off all chasing predators. For more curious predators the Lemmy has a second detterent. In a final act of indignity the Lemmy slightly lifts its tail and sprays the predator with it's feacies.
The Lemmy is a very curious creature. When one is chased, nearby Lemmies are often seen watching the chase from afar. They seem most amused when the predator is scared by the Lemmy face and moreso when the predator is chased of by a hail of little nuggets of shit. But it must be know, that although the Lemmy may seem scary, it is harmless. It has no real defenses, and once the predators catch on, it will surely mean the end of this akward creature.

Entry for #056: Scary But Harmless. A really fun concept to work on. And it has got some frontal nudity in there woohoo!

From the diary of Lady Corvus
"August 21st, 1913
I was horrified! I was woken by a cold wind. I noticed my balcony doors were open. As my vision started to adapt to the darkness, I could see an outline of a creature hunched over my dresser table. At first I thought it might be the ghost of my husband who had passed away. My hearts stopped when I saw the outline of a birds head where it's face ought to be. My senses could not face this abomination and I screamed my lunges out. Startled by my scream the strange beast ran to the door. It had the walk of a human. Yet I could hear it's feathers rustle as it dove from my balcony, flying away into the night. After I calmed down I lighted a candle. My precious jewelry boxes were opened, and I was missing my most valued pearl necklace. The strange being wasn't a monster out to take my life. It was but a mere thief!"

This was my entry for the CHOW 37 - Thief - Human/animal mix. I like to try out different styles to see where it takes me. This one was inspired by the vampire tutorial by Carlos Cabrera. Be sure to check out his site. He make some kick-ass stuff. He was so kind to put a few video's of his work, and you can probably pick up a technique or two from them. Anyway, I think this image might have turned out a bit too dark. On my lcd it looks fine, but it's a lot darker on other screens.

"Sir, this is Major Brickle. I'm in a f-18 fighter plane over the crisis area. It seems our information was right sir. We finally
found the thing that caused all the strange accidents in the Bermuda triangle. Actually it's not just one thing, it's probably
a whole new species. We've encountered one and are currently attacking it with all we've got. The creature appears larger
then we initially expected. I tried hitting it with my rockets, but I think I only pissed it off. It seems this creature is extremely
territorial. Ever since we've entered the triangle we are under constant attack from this enormous beast. I fear our carrier is
under severe danger. Nuking the creature might be the only option, thought I doubt we can take it down once the creature
is under water. I spotted several other of these worm like creatures in this neighborhood. Our scientist onboard the carrier have
sent you some info concerning the size of this animal. They based their data on the observations they were able to make
during our attack. That thing is unlike anything we've ever seen before.
It might not be safe for our aircraft sir. These animals, if one can call those things animals, have an enormous reach. I could
only barely pull up to avoid a collision. I don't think the slower bombers will be able to do the same... What do you mean they're
allready in the area? Sir! You must be joking, those planes are in danger! We gotta pull back! Pull back!
This secret of the Bermuda triangle is too big for us mr. President!"
------------
Entry for COW #57 - Secret of the Bermuda triangle. Another one I had a lot of fun doing. Its really great to try to convey a sense of scale and depth in a picture. Still have lot to learn about those though. The creature was so huge I had to put up a high-resolurion version

Another speedy to practice some skintones. Probably took about 3 to 4 hours. This was photoreffed from a still from "apocalypse now". The guy should look like Mr. Brando, but I had a hard time making him look like the real thing.
Just posted this to see how the icon thingy works, please ignore.

So cool! My favourite is that awsome zombie!
I also enjoyed the little COW doodles.

Cheers,
entdroid
Heheh very cool mate, keep on keeping on! Arrrrrrgg!
!
Entdroid: Thanks, good to hear you like it.
Bryno: Oi, its the return of the king! How are you doing down under?
风格怪异啊,lz是不是以前受过什么刺激,这样的作品一般人还真是画不出来.
Your compositions are all so strong! Amazing work.
I think the characters of the plasma ball speedpainting could have done with a bit more diffused light - they would look more integrated into that glass arena setting.
Just thought I'd drop you a line as an admirer and fellow COWer/Speedpainter. Nice sketchbook. Show more!
Supervlieg WOOT ! nice stuff in here XD
