You've got some cool stuff, I like how sharp you're sure to keep everything. I'm trying hard to get my environments and speedpaints down lately, not going incredibly well. But it's from looking at work like yours that helps me to improve in a relatively short amount of time.

    Thanks for sharing.

hey man! I love how someone is concentrating on environments, and boy are you tireless! your lines are getting more confident all the time, your values better. i'd like to see some non-digital stuff... though you seem to be progressing enough in the digitals alone too.
    cheers,

really amazing enviro, i especially like the black and white structurethumbnail for their sexy curves and few strokes. Hope you dont mind if i give a small crit , maybe its just a question of tast but I think some of your enviros are a bit too noisy in some areas and it creates too much constrast and attract the eye at too many spot in the same pic, if you use unsharp mask or high contrast photo ref you should try fading them a bit more or smudging them to reduce the contrast, especially the stuff that is far from the viewer. But im sure you already knew that im just being picky Keep it up i love the originality of your designs/, hope to be able to achieve that one day.

Dig that second sketch in post #217... maybe we do some interiors today. And remind me, I gotta pick your brains for that cobblestone painting technique that adds the Gears of War feel to some of your speedies.

Lovely environments here, you can really get lost in them.
I especially like how sharp and saturated they are.
Also I can see a real progress over the past pages, so keep on posting.
Maybe you want to do some jungle scenes with someancient buildings?
    Stay tuned!

good stuff man, last update got a nice temperature variation on color. I think the main door in the middle could use some more details since thats one of the first place we look at, i know its a quickie tho so maybe it wasnt what you were studying while doing this pic and the brush spacing in the 2nd pic of post 222 is bugging me a little ( you prably know how to change that setting already and maybe it was the effect you wanted nice 3d by the way, remidns me of a starwars ship ^^

Really cool stuff, you use these down to earth colours that I really enjoy and wish to employ myself. I always manage to fuck up the hue or saturation : /

Ok i've got a question; i was wondering, how do you get what appears to be layers of texture in many of your paintings? its really well done and i've been staring at it, trying to figure out how you are going about it.

Using this one as an example, toward the middle right of the painting, there is the broken away wall where at the front, closer to the lightsource it looks like there is a column that sticks out a bit toward the middle of the painting. The wall with the column recedes back into darkness and there is all kinds of subtle textures going on. There seems to be some kind of paneling, and some cool broken up stone etc. all kinds of great stuff going on.

'm working on a painting at work right now where im trying to achieve a similar look and have been using some various texture overlays, and have various architectural brushes that i lay down and transform into the painting's perspective, but it just isn't working and i've been struggling through it a bit trying to get good sharpness and texture.
So in conclusion, i guess my question is, how do are you getting these subtletys of texture throughout? I'd really appreciate some tips if you have time. thx.
