my vacation pics from Denmark Sweden and Norway

Hi folks in the last 3 weeks I've been traveling
Denmark Sweden and Norway with my parents on our sailingboat
I made one or the other drawing of landscapes there and now I want to show them together with a little vacation report, a mixture of diary and sketchbook
(ö= an o with an / in it)

7-28-06 Sönderborg
Denmark a land filled with tasety blondes!
The Weather is hot and the town is filled with german weekend tourists. The royal ship lies in the harbour but it doesn't look very buisy.

7-29-06 Skaerbaek
A rotten smell lies in the air near the fishing harbour.
The supermarket is open 8-19 every day which means => yummy danish food

8-1-06 Grenaa 00.04 pm
After sailing for 15 h (my personal record up to now including my first nighttime travel)
the marina is packed full of boats cause it's summertime, but we wont spend much time here anyway...
I want to get some sleep now
(little did I know at this point of time that we had to leave at 7 o'clock the next morning -.-)

'nough sailed! it rained the whole day long

It rained the whole fucking night and day!
Pretty annoying...
it's like spending the whole day sitting around but without a computer

I just got picked up by a crazy norwegian couple who wanted to suprise the womans father and sister to give them some kind of contract
I gave it to them (they were very suprised) and drew them standing around their boat talking.
I got the drawing signed by all of them and the captain asked me to draw his boat for money! w00t!
So I did... (my very first professional job^^)
after finishing my drawing they asked me in to join them on a couple of drinks .. and I did!

"SKOL!!!"
I earned 300 danish crowns (about 45 $)
and I had a great time

8-5-06 near Kristiansund 8:00
after starting at 11 o'clock yesterday in denmark we finally reach Norway
that was about 22 hours of sailing!!! the whole night
it was amazing since one could see every single star
and the light of the sun never completely disappeared it was at the horizont the whole night

man I'm hungry now, I can't wait to get a BIG breakfast and some sleep!

8-7-06 yesterday Grimstad today Risör
Norway's coastline is beautyful

the iceage shaped rocks are great and the woods on them make you want to camp there!

the wooden houses in the norwegian style give it a unique look, they are mostly white, red or yellow.

8-10-06
after some more days in norway we left for sweden today
and BANG
=> no wind, high waves and rain

now we are at the Koster Islands and there's nothing to do ... but at least sth to doo...!

8-12-06 Marstrand
rain ...

everyday and I'm tired since the drunken swedish didn't let us sleep too well last night when we were in Smögen

tomorow denmark again

the rest was traveling home and fighting against the wind

the whole trip had a distance of 750 nautic miles (1nm = 1.8 km) traveled over water
I'll surely visit Norway again it's beautyfull

this entire sketch / diary idea is fantastic. the sketches are nice, give just an idea but leave much to the imagination. and the back stories of each help to relate to the images. not sure if im explaining myself well enough but i really enjoyed this. thanks for the stories - JAG

I didn't let them all load because my connection lagged out lol (such is 56k) but from what I did see excellent capture of motion, sight, and sound with sketchings. I really enjoy your descriptions for each post.

I hope to see some of these worked further. Excellent studies.

Man, i never thought i would see drawings of Sønderborg and Sæby on CA

Really like them, mate - The Sæby sketch has a great feel to it! Fun to see danish money here too! Got more drawings? Too bad you had to be here with the rain - we have had an amazing hot summer with sunshine all day for a loooong time. But the rain has been really crazy lately.

@serena: thanks for the kind words
but they are "finished" since I didn't take photos I'll not worke them out more

@Simon: Yeah I confess it's unusual sight but the landscapes are so beautyful
I had a whole week of great weather in norway and back in denmark most days were half sun half rain^^
at the end we had a great time traveling back from Skaerbaek to germany (only a little rain at the end) that was last Friday

but well I travel denmark by boat since I'm 3 years old and the danish sun is in my heart (as agurkersalat, makrelsalat, napoleons hat and danish ice (which is the best worldwide as far as I know *flodebolle*) in my stomach *mhhh*

hey there! very, very nice drawings! great to see you had such a good time. especially like the later drawings, cause you're using a wider range of values there and emphasize some of your lines. makes it 'pop' more. very cool, show more!
