    Woah!
    It's been a while since my last visit.
    Already over half a year ago i think. Asked you that time for some mentoring but you didn't have the time.

    And now I have to say:
    I don't know for what you used this time, but it seems like you used it for painting!
    Niice improvement.
    Pencil work is looking very sketchy most times, but your finished paintings are great.
    Your rendering and chose of color reminds me a little bit of the artist "Dan Dos Santos".

    Keep going and if someday you decide to do some mentoring again: Think of me!
    Sil!

    Gave you 5 stars. Now you finally made it up to 5 star sketchbook again. Why the hell was it rated at four stars? o.o

    Man, thanks guys. 5 stars... never thought I'd see that :0

    Silwynar; Agreed on my pencils, I can't seem to get the hang of it. I'm worried that it stems from an underlying problem, lack of confidence, inability to draw accurately the first time or just lack of use of my pencils etc. That's why I've front-loaded all of my studies with pencil studies so that before I can get to digital each night I need at least 2 pages of pencils first.

    If my colours looks like Dan the Man's I think that means I'm on the right track :0

    -----------------------------
    This week in the study rotation;

    Insects (somewhat failed at, i applied the timed aspect to the sketches when i shouldn't have)
    Gestures/poses
    Feet
    Modern clothing (got to do some imagination sketches but didn't get as far as I would have liked)
    Heavy Machinery (tanks, apcs and helis. Practice was space-gunship concepts)
    Cities (only really got one sketch done, bad day)
    Master studies (I look forward to this all week. these are fun!)

    I also included some ridiculousness (if anyone gets where it's from I love them) and a set of WIPs for the new artorder challenge.

    You're so awesome. I saw your name on the front page and just had to click (even though I don't normally come to this section).

    I love the way you handle turning a black and white image into a colored one.
    'Cuz life is full of your regrets, and I should be one...

    great to see this definite improvements, those fast studies are trendemous!

    about latest image, i feel black and white values are good but saturation is too much and all over the place, or something else with color... the image is working on black & white but becomes confusing with colour...

    or maybe those snake heads, does all that white highlites really belong in there? i covered those snakes with my fingers and image read much better in colour

    anyway keep this image up, i want to see can you solve it in the end

    I'm visiting this sketchbook for the first time and I'm impressed by all those amazing digitals! You are developing a very good feeling of forms and values.
    Just the pencils could need some real work, even if I would never say that they are bad. I think, it's better to avoid smudging with the pencil. Doing the shadows all with lines works better in my opinion. Especially if you follow the direction of the shape. Well, sometimes your lines look quite confident, but sometimes they are to sketchy. Did you ever try to do life drawing with ink or a ball pen? I found, that it helps a lot to use a technique that does only allow confident lines to develop even the pencil lines. But I don't know, if that could be something for you.

    Nonetheless, I like those vehicle studies and concepts a lot! Makes me want to do some too.
    Keep up the great work!

    Your progress is fantastic. Those old matter studies seem to be incredibly helpful. After looking at your SB, I'm planning on doing them regularly as well. So thanks for the inspiration.

    Thanks guys! New blog update so new sketchbook update;

    ------

    Life and work has kept me from finishing my "weekly" studies in a timely fashion, hopefully I'll get back into the groove soon

    before studies here's some work update, the cover and interior poster insert for the God that Crawls from Lamentations of the Flame Princess

    .... and an honour mount done for Kobold Quarterly

    This (long-ass) week study rotation;

    Fish
    Muscle studies
    Gloves as they relate to the hands they cover
    Ancient weapons
    Modern weapons (along with some futuristic gun practice)
    Trees
    Master studies and practice focusing mainly on nature and trees

    This was *technically* starting as an imagination image for gloves practice but morphed into Wonder Woman with troubling perspective;

    Getting real good Jason. One thing I 'd like to point out is that when you sketch you've got the principal right which is using the least amount of strokes to reach the idea of the image. BUt when you paint this completely fades away . Try using less strokes when you paint for example environments and natural objects.

    Jason your latest works are simply terrific, it's really impressive how you progressed !
    A little critique or advice I could give is to get a bit more sharpened egdes.
    I feel like some of the paintings loose life because of that, but just a detail, except that realllyy awesome work man !
