And for fuck's sake, a tournament structure in ANY competition isn't designed to pass only the best from the massive pool of competitors round to round! If two great teams are matched up in the first round of a playoff series and one of them loses, do you ever expect the losing team to bitch about how the playoffs were run and get a pass into the next round? They should have played better if they wanted to win, plain and goddamn simple.

    Boohoohoo, I hate whiners.

hey 9 take it easy man.

its just an opinion. you did a great job in here. its not against you.

but i think that just pass without any competition.. its a mistake

it is cool the 1vs1 thing. but Italy didnt pass to the final becouse Germany dont show up in the match. this is only my point of view.

i having fun and enjoying all the art in here ando its no impossible that the judges pick up 90 pieces.

i can do that. why not a judge?

ARACUBUS...you're lucky I'm sitting on Cody's face right now...or you'd be getting another earful.

In the immortal words of Kenny Rogers: You've got to know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em... You've got to know when to walk away, and know when to run...

In this case it means...Shut the FUCK UP! and drop it!!!!!

No, YOU take it easy man!

I'm not angry or anything, I just know that you aren't familiar with the logistics of running something like this. All I'm telling you is picking the 90 best entries is not feasible to judge and defeats the purpose of this dome.

Of course I don't want people to just pass without battling anyone, and I think I did a good job of keeping up with the reserve list and filling in any replacements that I could. Keeping tabs on everyone's matches and updating all of the threads and lists and websites with everyone's new matchups drains a lot of time, something I don't have a lot of to freely throw around. I don't think you are taking that into consideration. On top of that, I'm not going to take a participant from a full 3 man match to fill in a slot where only 1 person showed up. That would be deceptive to all the particpants affected.

And as for your Italy and Germany analogy... I don't think Germany would have pussed out without a warning. And I'm fairly sure a reservist list wouldn't be active the day of the tournament if a team just decided to not show up.

I'm not telling you you can't have an opinion, but I am telling you that your opinion was short-sighted and utopian. If everything went perfectly, 271 people would have shown up and submitted pieces for their matches. I have to depend on 270 other people for everything to run smoothlly, but since that is obviously not possible I have to do the best I can with what I have.

strych9ine, you are awesome, really, you are one with energy and charm of the hundred. Bless your smart head and gold hands. And I would like to comment on your entry, but I will do it in your book, it was a great piece.
And I apreciate and it is funny too, that you only need to count at 270 people, you know that 271 th guy will be realiable, that's sweet. My kind of guy.
See you soon in your book.

    feasible...maybe.
    defeats the purpose... DEFINITELY.

its a thunderdome, its all about the face to face competition.
when you get to the later rounds, you'll be trying not just to produce a good piece,
but you'll be trying to produce a piece that specifically exploits your challenger's weaknesses.

not to mention, a "free for all" would mean twice as many drop outs.
    people would feel less noticed.

    all that aside,
i agree about match 22... iconophobia & robolous.
by far the most crushing decision to make.

Are you trying to get in my pants sve? Because it's working.

Dan, no kidding about that match. That's the beauty and the pain of the dome. Everyone should also keep in mind that if people drop from the second round, there is a public vote about which people deserve to advance based upon their performance in the previous rounds. Whether you exit the dome at the beginning or the end, what you've contributed is not forgotten.

That sounds epic. We got a tagline!

No, Cody, just into your heart. Disappointed? Besides I think you're all booked for the next few years. Boys and girls and animals. And still life.

Cody you da man, TD is great, and just the fact someone like you has the balls to organize such a monster, I'll just say one thing (although using two words): total respect.
I just came back from vacation, and was in the middle of the ocean: no phone or PCs for 3 weeks, just water around me, you guys have been busy as usual
Nice paintover and escape Aracubus... But I have other sharks in my pocket

My fav of those goes to Dutton. Great concept, style and realisation: fresh and original.
Guys I love these threads, and I love you all, but in no sexual manner obviously.
