fishspawn - hehe, you can blame the gestures thunderdome.

bluemech - yeah some of the lines are thick, I went over them a few times to try and make them look like the loomis examples.

chaosrocks- hey nice of you to drop in. I'm trying to draw faster damnit. How much petrol do I need to pour onto the fireplace again?

OK, some more gestures, this time for the Gesture #3 TD.

Reffed from various animal books and some cats from real life courtesy of my kitties.

I know, I know, I need to get started on more colour work. I'm working on it.

    look a corgi!
somehow this looks like a coloring book. I especially like the frogs. and the humping lions
but the style is a little static rather than active.... good depictions but you need to loosen up grlfriend

Sue... beautiful drawings.. and it's so awsome to see you putting time and effort back into your drawings.. see you can do such awsome stuff if you put aside your "lazyness" you have solid line work, control and great eye for proportions. it's qualities lot of people envy.. *cough* me *cough*

    love the frogs.. sweeeet

Welcome to Trés Cuté, Connannerz! You've got some great stuff in here. Watch out for the digital mushiness in your paintings. Hard edged brushes help that go away.

I like the lions doing it. And the dogs page is radtastic.

    OK, bai 2 u!

Hey I've been gone a while. Finally getting back to the art thing.

Tried to use PS to paint, not doing so well. Still having trouble with "mushiness". Reffed off SuicideGirls model Manko. (Doesn't really look like her.)

Had to go doodle a school girl to cheer myself up afterwards. (Based on Aki Hoshino. )

Speed paint of forest, trying to get a grip on values. Had to do this twice cos the first time I used a soft airbrush and wondered why it all looked mushy...duh. Not sure if the black background should be quite as black...

    Now a cherry. OK.

I am now sick of fruit... next time it's not gonna be fruit.

Oh I forgot to mention, I reffed the fruits off wonderful public domain photos taken by Jon Sullivan. He runs a public domain photo gallery at
    http://pdphoto.org/

That's right - You can even use the photos for profit!! Such a nice dude!

Id love to see you use real fruit...not phot reffed
to start you can't take weeks putzing with it... it rots
and 2 some how the reffed ones always end up looking plastic
I know cherries are red but they are also green and gold and blue..... there is a local color aspect to it that could be addressed. I think it would be easier fo ryou to see.... with actuall objects in fporn of you... your cherry is flat because you are working from a flat photo.... be brave..buy fruit! paint it...then eat it

Stark - haha no, it was from a photo. I didn't put a back on it, cos in the photo the cherry was deep in shadow.

chaos - Yup yup, done that this week. Don't worry about putsing for a week. I'm hyperactive, if I can't finish a study in a day I get angsty.

Earendil - Thanks dude! Say, you done the training camp exercises yet?

OK, first adding in some gestures I did for the Gestures Study Group http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=100335 for anyone else interested.

Now for some fruit studies. I am still having a lot of issues with value. You can see the mandarin study going from bad to worse. My housemate ate the mandarin now, so that's that.

I then tried to paint a chilli I picked from the garden. I thought it was a habanero. Waronmars and Deadred set me straight in irc and told me it wasn't. It's a roccatillo. (Damn you tricky seed selling place.) It turned out kinda bleh.

Now for a doodle of a girl. Hmm.

Maybe when I can colour I'll come back and fix her up.

I just found IdiotApathy's guide to painting in the tips and tricks forum section, I will really have to read up on it, and consider upgrading to CS. I'm still using PS 7.

great updates, especially the new doodle!

CS2 would be a better upgrade if you're still on ps7, mostly for the better brush system (more controls/options), imho

You're hot Cwn...though the mandarin kinda...it uh...Heh. No, but the purple shoulda been taken out of it because it adds a over ripe look to it and that is not sexy. Uh, the last chick looks good, nices lines and everything works. Gestures are hot as usual. You always tryna hide the skills! Floss them shits girl!

Hehehe, now, keep at it and you'll surpass deadred
